looks good. You didn't have to actually drink the XXXX tho did you !? When i started drinking that stuff, the missus decided it was time to leave QLD!

They're pretty popular from what i here. Keep meaning to wack an edge on of of the ol' ones ive go sitting in the draw. Should be handy for butterflying tommies & mullet too.

Alas, there's a lot more to casting distance than length of rod! Action, balance, weight, reel matching, line......... I wont pretend to understand how this works.

Veritas & Trion are good value rods and should suit well. However for that price range I'd be having a look at the Gen Blacks too. Will add that I have no experience with any of those 3. Personally, I don't like the Veritas 'cause it is 'white' & don't like the Trion 'cause of the 'cork' ! Have had a in-store fiddle with the Gen Blacks and recon one would replace my current 1-3kg, if the need arose. That Azusa's a sweet stick, but a different price bracket! http://www.azusa.com.au/products.htm

I hate wearing waders and avoid them for as long into the cooler weather as i can! I don't care about being dry as long as i'm not cold. Give me some neoprene booties/shorts/thermals/fleece jumper/beanie/waterproof jacket for the surf stuff. Otherwise, if i had a 12mm 'long john' wettie and i'd be laughing! I love the freedom afforded by a wetsuit. You never get 'swamped', as you can swim anytime you get a bit over zealous. However it's the ability to take a wizz whenever that is sooooo convenient! My fist pair were a cheapish pair of Shakespear's that lasted much longer than i thought

LOL Was just about to clarify that one! Also was going to add that your recommendation of a Topshot should be highly regarded, given your love of the toothys.....not to mention ballsy Crazy Horse ventures!

I love to support a local but it is a bit sad that they cant even start with being vaguely competitive! No questions id be voting with my wallet too and go elsewhere! G'day The gap was so wide I didn't think it was worth it and ordered 2 hookem's one 1500 x 4" and one 1500 x 3" $205 delivered Cheers Rod Man that's pretty good service, especially once you add the 'over size' postage.

Used the new Symetre Saturday, loaded up with a 35 & 38cm ST plus heaps around just legal. Just chucked the old spool on the new reel. Super smooth so easy to forget how good they are 'supposed' to feel!

Reminds me, I've a boned leg o' lamb marinating in the freezer asking for a char grilling. Just needs tabbouleh & hummus . Wrong time of day to be imagining the smell of burning lamb fat. Making me drool!

Yummo. Nice and simple too. Gotta love that ! There's certainly is something special about cooking on fire.

Whoa, just about to comment...but better leave that one alone ......

You gonna model that one for us Tinks?

Not exactly but id go along the lines of fish cakes. In real simple terms: drain & flake the meat mix in a bowl with whatever flavorings you like bind with egg & breadcrumbs. roll into desired sized balls, flatten a little & roll in breadcrumbs. Deepfry ......shalllow fry if you must . Some further ideas: http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/17143/thai+style+fish+cakes As im assuming the crab meat is cooked, it will likely require a little more egg/breadcrumbs for binding. So something like: http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/6771/fish+cakes I dont like the idea of t

Indeed. Ive a 260, 360, 560 and 2 x 560L! Too heavy to balance the lil' 1-3kg flick stick tho.

Bought a Symetre 1000FL last night, using the "spend $100 get $20 off" deal from a certain retail chain. Now will have at 2 spools if i cant get the older reel running satisfactorily. Had the drag clicker brake on a 2500, as this was not replaceable, meant a new spool - or reel in this case given the negligible price difference! Replaced with a Sedona, which i then fell on and broke. Good thing these spools were interchangeable so the Sienna is still going strong, just with the Sedona spool!

A super easy fish curry is one of my faves. Korma is a mild curry that lets the fish flavour to carry thru. I usually use vac-packed salmon, but an otherwise great way of using up those ‘mystery fillets’ that appear out of the depths of the freezer from time to time. Ingredients: 500g diced fish 2-3 tbls korma paste 2 onions, diced 2 cloves garlic minced 2 tsp ginger, minced 1cup chicken/fish stock ½ tin crushed tomatoes ¼ cup Coconut cream Oil Method: Fry onions and garlic add ginger and paste and fry for a minute or so, until aromatic. Turn down low, add stock& to

Had to make an exception to not buying the 'Club Mensforth' mag just to read Alex's article. (they could've got the contents numbering right , too many ed?) Great work Alex! It's been fantastic sharing your experiences; watching you learn and develop your skills over the last couple of years. A true joy and inspiration to all

Let's Go Fishing's a bit far south for me.

ATC Valliant 2000: 5.2:1, 8+1 bearings, Carbon drag washers & 7kg drag!. Very curious.....plus ive never heard of them! Anyone local stock them so i can have a feel? 2000 a bit big tho and still recon i'll lean towards a Shimano 1000.
-
Indeed i lie! I busted the Sedona falling at OH breakwater and its the cheaper Sienna 2500 that im still using, with the Sedona spool on it..... just to confuse me.

Need to replace the reel on my 1-3kg outfit. The current Shimano Symetre FL 1000 is 'grabbing' somehow in the retrieve , making it near impossible to work the light lures. I have stripped & lubed twice now, inc bearings for it to return to the same condition after a couple of sessions. Too much time wasted! Don't want to spend big $ as this is used 90% wading, where it undoubtedly gets splashed more than it should and i cant see a $200 reel being any better than $100 in this regard. Im not 'brandist' but have generally been a Shimano man....dumb question , what is the equivale

Ive been using Black Magic Snap Swivels, pulling the snaps off for luring and saving the swivels for tying rigs. http://www.blackmagictackle.com/shop/Swivels/Black+Magic+Snap+Swivel.html#.VsbniuZ6kaE Easier to reliably find and do exactly what i want!
