The simple answer is yes I can but where I am fishing will determine this risk. I tend to use the 60's for this style of fishing them. Regards HBt.

steady rolling and heavy twitching for snook and ultra slow roll and long pause for bream.

Have had good success with twitching and pausing as well as a slow constant retrieve. Also scored some good fish kicking up plumes while bouncing them off the bottom. While they are rated to around 2-3 metres depending on the size you use I have also used them in shallow water with high sticking my rod. A great lure with potential to catch numerous species 😉. Good luck with using them. Regards HBt.

Going by those prices I'm thinking its more economical to buy mid priced quality reels, work them hard, but with care. Obviously avoid water and sand intrusion. Wash them down etc. after use and replace them with new ones when they no longer perform to acceptable levels.
Seems wasteful though....such a throw away society we live in now days.
I guess the cost is wrapped in the service person's pay. The value of those reels listed above would however justify their servicing costs.

WLs isn't easy compared to other systems. Certainly there's plenty of fish in there but what works elsewhere doesn't always work in there.
I'm no expert fishing WLs but you need to think more about where you're fishing, at what time of the day. There's more to it than that but it takes perseverance. If I had a dollar for every time I scored a donut in WLs... 🙄
Imo the fish in WLs have it pretty easy because they get fed by residents and the system is on most days being replenished by sea twice a day. I've had days there where I've presented virtually every lure I own at them and 90% of the time they won't even take a sideways look. If they do, they might follow briefly then turn their noses at it.
There's many plastics that work on bream in WLs, I'm not going to make any suggestions because I'm guessing that if you chase bream on plastics you most likely already own the ones that work and it's no secret.
Good luck with it. I might fish it myself Saturday A.M

Definately a loop knot or an easy lure clip should sort the problem. Otherwise go to your local tackle store & ask them to show you how to set up. I reckon most people dont ask when buying a lure how to best set up. You should ask as any tackle store worth their weight will show you.

it may be the tow eye is slightly cocked to one side if the lure is spinning clockwise try pulling the eye to left ever so gently & with a very minisule adjustment with a small pair of pliers retry lure & the reverse if the lure is spinning anticlockwise. also i would tie a loop knot rather than a blood knot it gives the lure a little more freedom of movement thru the water.

I tend to think that using clips on a jighead has more effect on the action of the lure than when fishing hb lures with clip.
99% of the time I use a loop knot to both jighead or hb lure.
Removing the split ring from the bib of a lure can also improve the action in my experience.

The little clips are pretty strong but some people have said they have had trouble with them opening up - part of me thinks they didnt shut the clip correctly. -  but their could be other factors at play. Rocks catching on the clip under strain and pushing the little keeper in and opening the snap could cause them to fail early. But its never happened to me

I started using clips when fishing for Jewies coz I like to throw 3 different lures at a spot before moving on to the next - and I dont like casting with long leaders - so after a few spots, my leader would be getting short after tying 3 uni knots at each.

Then I started just using clips for all my lures - the only time I dont use them is on very delicate lures like 35mm plastic vibes and little stick minnows that need to flutter on the drop.

And they do have a habit of catching weed in very weedy spots so I dont use them with little weedless presentations.

I tend to chase everything but bream these days so i dont pay as much attention to finesse as I used to. But with that said - I still use them on 4cm bibbed minnows and blades.

I'm no guru but making the switch to clips didnt effect my catch rates. And it made it a alot easier to change lures in a heart beat. If you are lazy like me - using clips can be the difference between changing a lure and sticking with a lure not ideally suited to the cast you are about to make.

If you are going for garfish , I suggest always move your bait a little ,sometimes they don't even move your float ,they are just sucking on the gents ,just light lifts now and again as sometimes you will feel some weight ,and you know they are there . Also check your maggots on the hook , if they have had the guts sucked out , you know they are there ,so you just have to work for them . As said above I have fished for over 40 yrs ,and Gar can be very finicky at times ,and they will do your head in . The last trip I only managed 7 gar ,the time before 37 gar ,the time before that NOT ONE GAR . So don't give up , Gar is one of the harder fish to master at times , but worth the effort as YUMMO to eat .

Easy to get disappointed sometimes no question. Truth is, if fish are not in the area your bait is you won't catch fish. Doesn't matter what prep or research or even how good you are or think you are, you won't catch fish.
I fish with a mate on a boat occasionally and this season the garfish have been difficult to find in numbers and size, we've tried plenty as garfish are my fav table fish.
Like all types of fishing it takes practice and learning. Take notes, photos or whatever of what works, when and you'll work out the how. You might notice that on certain tide phases, moon phases, time of the day ect ect that the fish come on the bite for instance.
What's the depth of your trace below the float? Photo?

This may help your present situation: perseverance + skill + confidence + luck = FISH. If not then my philosophy is: If I dont have a lure in the water I cant catch a fish 😉. Good luck with your fishing. Regards HBt.

Interesting question....,why dont I catch fish?
I am partly blaming the internet for this dilemma, nowadays  info is hand fed.Back in the day it was fishing reports in the paper, after that it was up to the individual to actually go out ,see what other experienced anglers were doing right, taking in the info, spending time on the water, working out tides, feeding habits, gathering or buying fresh bait, experementing with different rigs...basically doing the hard yards.
You can only be hand fed so much, time on the water= experience ,actually  working things out yourself plus seeing from others  is the key.Plus one thing my Dad always taught me is fish for what is there. No point fishing for salmon trout when everyone around you is catching  say yellowin whiting for example.
    Cheers and all the best.😎

Yeah we used to work the bay rockwalls with SX40's for the pinks which is alot of fun - but the versatility of plastics is hard to beat on the pinkies

Most of the SP fishing I do is for bream in various systems, occasionally chase mullies and snapper on them too but I've never really been bothered by fish pulling the plastic from the jighead. Sometimes we get loads of leatheries on a snapper drop but I'll switch to a metal jig or sinking stick bait or we move altogether 😂
As an example most guys I've come across that fish plastics for bream predominantly use a 2.5" motor oil grub, for good reason but having said that for me I've easily caught more fish on different shapes and colours and wouldn't rank the motor oil grub in my top 5 picks.
I really enjoy that part of fishing too where I can find out what's working where and when.

Nice buy Micky. From what I read of the new LT reels the 2500 is only 2mm bigger than the older model 2000 and 3mm smaller than previous 2500. Enjoy and here's hoping that 40cm specimen is not far away 😉. Regards, HBt.
