They are awesome reels micky, a mate has one and I can't fault it. Very good choice.

For a given size, the lt series from daiwa is a bit smaller than the equivalent sizing in an 'equivalent' reel. That is to say, a 3000 daiwa lt may be the same size as a 2500 normal daiwa reel, or something to that effect.

HB tragic reacted to southie THE BANGA in A good mono to mono knot please.
If using mono line no real need for a leader.
I use 3lb straight through fluorocarbon and love it for flicking plastics and hardbodies.
If you feel like you need a leader i use the albright knot. Its simple to tie and nice and strong.
I prefer this knot as its easy to tie with my chunky fingers...

Hey Mr Fish funny you should say that got some salmon 4 today at the lake biggest was only 30. Number 5 was slightly bigger i felt it hit felt like it was gone almost landed it spat the bottom trebles. When I looked at the double clutch afterwards bottom trebles intact Top ones all gone just the shaft ( sorry couldn't think of a better word ) left. I should've gotten more number 1 I got at 6.15 then by 6.50 I was going to change the lure I didn't get time the water just went on the boil and birds went off was insane and fun
Double clutch hooks are crap imho

Hi Micky. Fished there Monday morning. Water level low, still weed particularly the northern end and the dolphins swimming by for good measure ... and no fish of any kind that I could tempt. VERY disappointing 😔. Drove past late Wednesday afternoon and it looked perfect particularly for surface action. Hopefully it will pick up as the weather warms up and that weed moves on ... but its seems it may need a whole lot of hope. Regards HBt.

HB tragic got a reaction from Meppstas in A little extra on a lure....
Nicely done. I have done the same on a few hbs by either adding an extra colour as you have or changed the colour. We need to mix things up from time to time. I have often been interested in the colours that people have had their lures re finished to ... but it is all about what works 😉. Regards, HBt.

HB tragic reacted to Kuerschie in Bushy's night
It was all about catching sand whiting on surface lures and how his experiences could translate to our yellowfin whiting. Starting from the beginning was gear talk; graphite rods, 1000-2500 sized reels with 6lb braid and 8-15lb leader depending on bycatch (flathead, tailor, salmon, trevally etc). Next the lures and the main three that Bushy rated highly were the Bassday Sugapen, Atomic K9 Bulldog and Zerek Trail Weaver in lures that are transparent. Instead of the trebles Bushy definitively recommended using assist hooks, home made or bought in the size 8-10 size. If making your own then have the two hook trailers staggered in length and there's no need for the middle treble so get rid of it. Also when connecting your lures to your leader, never use a loop knot or clip, always tie it directly. Where you tie it to the tow point was also a factor in your lure's action in the water and to check where it is tied after each fish so the lure maintains the best action over your fishing session.
The one key thing Bushy did mention that a lot of people don't do is to have a diamond stone hook sharpener when you're fishing and after every fish you hook, sharpen your lure's hooks. He attaches his to his fishing vest and after each hookup he sharpens the assist hooks and he believes it makes a huge difference in landing a couple or a bag out. He explained that the inside of a yellowfin's mouth is very rough and blunts hooks quickly. Little one percenters like this make a big difference.
Always throwing in a joke here or there, the night wrapped up around 9pm after a load of general questions from those present on the night. Very informative and a lot of lure sales probably occurred this week along with orders for assist hooks etc.

Hi Mickyj. From my perspective there doesn't appear to be as many bream in the Pat these days as in previous years ... unless its just what I am throwing so changing around until you find the lure of choice on any given day is the way to go. As you noted more often than not we scored bream on lures with an orange belly (and they were generally of the bigger size as well) but the system appears not to be as it was so the need to trial different patterns and colours is paramount. The goal now is to catch bream and hope that every now and then we score a larger model . Regards, HBt.
