  1. I did check with PIRSA that using chicken on hooks was OK, got a 5 kg flathead on chicken in Newcastle harbour.
  2. 15 Hilariously Effective Baits Used by Fishermen IMAGE CREDIT: ISTOCK Put down your spades—when it comes to finding fishing bait, you don’t need to dig in your backyard for worms. You can plunder your pantry instead. From sweets to garbage, veteran fishermen swear these 15 out-there baits get results. 1. SOAP Believe it or not, chunks of soap are considered “traditional” bait for reeling in catfish, and fishermen have been using them for centuries. Brands of “pure” soap, with no added scents or chemicals, work best, as do homemade lye soaps. 2. CANNED MEAT Ev
  3. ICrods7.jpg Fox Sport Fishing Standup Trek: I had to add this one in here simply for the unique factor. Travel rods are nothing new, but until this year’s ICAST, I had never seen a stand-up roller guide outfit capable of battling massive makos or huge marlin that could break down into a travel tube. It may seem silly to some, but if you do any offshore fishing, you know how cumbersome outfits like this can be. Traveling with them is a nightmare and 99% are one-piece rods. Pick up four of these bad boys, and you can take your tuna gear along as easily as your fly rod. These bluewater packab
  4. Hope you are feeling fit, those GT's fight like a cross between a tank and a jet fighter.

  6. I bought the same deal last year, liked the smoke taste so much I upgraded to a Hark 2 door, much more versatile but the Mojiko did do a good job on Tommies.
  7. Those that don't have a smoker could try this?
  8. Try some chicken thighs stuffed with cheese and roast pepper then wrapped in bacon.
  9. Getting hungry after reading that, no crabs in the fridge so off to the pub.
  10. Tides 4 Fishing http://www.tides4fishing.com/au/south-australia/port-adelaide is actually a bit different to the other resources mentioned. It uses Solunar data to predict the best fishing times. I try to use it to plan trips but quite often find that we cannot be out at the optimum predicted time but will still have a go, we enjoy fishing, catching only makes it better. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the predictions but I have read many good reports on the system.
  11. Still trying to talk Yatesy into doing the taste test?
  12. Anyone try this recipe this year?
  13. Saw some in there last week but did not take note of colours. They have them on their website. http://www.rayannes.com.au/daiwa-shimano-reels-australia/boats-accesories/marine-accesories-electronics-bait-boards-etc/watersnake-inflatable-pfd-1-life-jacket-only-59-1/
  14. Quality may be good but sand etc is your enemy as mentioned by others.
  15. Have broken several telescopics, recently acquired a Travel Rod, it appears to be bullet proof.
  16. Slightly off topic but related. As you know I recently acquired one of your travel rods, I really like the case but got to thinking if it was a little longer it should be able to hold a reel?
  17. TEXAS TURKEY RECIPEI thought this sounded good! Here is a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing ingredient -- imagine that. When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when turkey is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Givethis a try. Turkey Recipe8 - 15 lb. turkey 1 cup melted butter 1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good) 1 cup un-popped popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER'S LOW FAT IS BEST)Salt/pepper to taste Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt, and pepper. Fill cavity w
  18. I think we need more inspectors, not more rules.
  19. Good job that bottle was not on the table when we knocked over the BIG bottles of JW Doble Black, anything might have happened. Those cockles though, they sound mighty good, need to take the X trail for a run and get some, when are you thinking of going again?
  20. Just do what Rex Hunt does, "kiss it better".
