  1. g'day, i am moving to mornington early january next year and was wondering if there is anyone who has lived or travelled that way and could give some advice on the fishing? i do have a kayak and don't mind travelling to those trout lakes.
  2. cheers mate ill give em a go
  3. hahaha southie mate, must just be me muscles. those generations black rods do look nice. do you know a good dealer with a good range of daiwa rods? i really want to have a closer look and feel before i buy anything. grego, i do have flats in mind so perhaps something longer than 7' will be the go. patrol, jewels are great rods especially for plastics fishing, match it up with a 1000 and youv'e got yourself a great little combo.
  4. southie,i picked one of those up at a local tacklestore the other day, it is a very nice rod, but i thought it was a bit heavy. i don't know if thats just me but personally i would only by that in a much heavier line class. thanks for the suggestion tho.
  5. they are awesome rods, ive already got one tho its a 1-3kg but can still handle 5kg fish
  6. thanks for the reply, the t spec looks great but they don't make them with a line class lower than 2-4 kg. i want to go as light as possible. i don't mind going over $300 for the combo, it's just the rod that i dont want to spend heaps on.
  7. spent saturday afternon on the onk, caught my first whiting on a popper, then my second, then third headed upstream and landed my first bream on a popper as the sun set.
  8. hi guys,i am looking for a new outfit. i don't really want to spend more than $300. what i am really looking for in a rod is that it is 7' long, 1-3kg or lighter, split butt, hard EVA grips, slow to moderate action (very flicky but not sloppy), quality guides for braid, and is a one piece. i will almost exclusively be using it for casting weightless topwater lures for whiting on flats and tiny cranks for bream. i have been looking at a Daiwa tournament speacialist bream and a i am thinking of matching it up with a shimano sustain or rarenium, both 1000 size and spooled with 2lb braid. all comm
  9. hi hookedfish,I used a strike pro micro vibe, i think they're 30mm, the r2s should work just aswell. good luck, tight lines.
  10. first cast of the day i landed a 40+cm black bream on a micro vibe. i was stoked
  11. I have Pflueger trion with a 1500 shimano sedona, shimano sonic pro with a 4000 shimano seienna and sometimes put my 6000 Pflueger Lithium on it if im getting busted off. ive got a bunch of old okuma and jarvis walker reels that i dont use anymore but the okuma's keep on going. im more of a Shimano man myself but only cos ive never used Daiwa, am looking at a Daiwa Tdt rod tho.
  12. yeah it fought like crazy, i was using 4lb mono, no leader. so glad i brought that net.
  13. caught this trolling a Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow from Brighton to Glenelg. It Measured 45cm.
