  1. OH....MY....GOD.....I think I want to live on Lake Arthur... :icon_lol:Great advice mate as Tony has just enspired me to buy and try some myself for Reddies/trout.Sadly first time I went to put one on a swival the bloody wire loop/treble fell straight out and into murky water where I was standing. Might just have to give your method a go !! 8) ::)Have a Karma point mate
  2. Probably about 5-6 years old, and a tommie out of the Hindmarsh River near the mouth at Victor. ;DFrom memory I went on to catch a few that day and all had photo's taken.
  3. Brooksey just curious as to why you think rays should not be speared ?? I know heeaps of people here love to target them on massive game rods and the like with huge hooks and a few are used for shark baits or eating so why does it matter how they are caught ??? As I said mate, just curious... ???
  4. Got to love re-coil !!Seen people do it with styre's a few times... hence the name styre eye :icon_lol:
  5. Howdy all..Do your home work first guys on where you can and can't spear fish. From memory only ( please check for your self ) It's from Outer Harbour to Onk Mouth South you have to be 400mtrs out. Obviously there are some areas which are still a no go like Aldinga reef and horse shoe reef but there is still some great areas.Depending on your lungs, try Rapid bay jetty for one, the bluff, horseshoe bay, Myponga, Cape Jervis... the list goes on. In deep water try a few wrecks and the like for some snapper. Please don't just spear anything for the sake of it though. I have seen it so many times,
  6. Good to see you using it Tony. 8)I changed not long after watching the DVD you gave me with Adam Royter. It seemed a lot easier and quicker to tie than the usual albright knot and there has been no going back.Certain had no complaints about strenght either. I have just gone to 6lb braid with 6lb leader and it gives a beautiful small knot.
  7. on behalf of all Australians... thankyou for this selfless action :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:
  8. Scorps has the right answer to this one I believe. If the law says there is a legal size then who are we to bend the rules ??Nicol has asked a very good question and it really comes down to our own morals. My way of thinking is that if I am puting a live bait out, it is to catch a big fish... therfore... I would want to increase my chances of catching a big fish by puting a decent size live bait on ( meaning legal !! ) my two cents..We do need to watch what is said as it can be taken as "spokesmans" comment for those that want to use it against us.
  9. Made up for it today guys, I was fishing for reddies and still managed to get a couple with the rear trebles half way up the you know what !!! Even managed to jag a carp which shot off a million miles an hour labing me nothing but a scale. .hissy.The sad thing about it all is that it makes the fish feel 3 x larger than what it is > :oIt's been happening to me all my fishing life, others see me at it and just think it's stange.... hehehee... ( can't balme them ) I just keep telling myself that same old saying.... You don't paint pictures, you just write the score ..... :icon_lol:
  10. All I can say is WOW..... well done mate, trip of a life time
  11. :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:Actualy managed an entire days fishing without jagging one up the clacker the other day. Gee.. must be losing my edge ;D
  12. Tyke have a chat o WB next time your in there mate, they have abit of a range there.
  13. Curious Tony (only as I have never used it)... is the chicken cooked or raw ???May be a silly question to some but I have never heard of it.
  14. Pelli give em a go mate... If they are prepared to take them when it's night time I'm sure a little dirty water won't distract them too much.I have got many a fish in dirty dams with lures so I can't see the difference champ. It's easy to stick to what you know, but much more rewarding catching them in different methods than what you are used to 8)
  15. Hb's and SP's for me as long as I am on the land, once out in the boat it's a different story although the more I go out the more that is changing as well.Up the coorong it all lures but the ocean it's still slowly transforming with SP's being the way to go for most species.A lot of things will still only take bait but once they come up with SP this and that... well... the sky is the limit really.... ;D
  16. Szkolka I could tell you but would have my tongue cut out in the process :
  17. Isn't that why they he's called Waterboy ??? :icon_lol:The rain barely let up for 10 mins where we were. Well worth it though 8)
  18. Plenty of redfin out there mate, check the freshwater folder... me and waterboy pulled in over 50 today ;DThe best thing is you don't have to get the boat wet to get your fix either
  19. Well mate, after watching that all i can say is... are you booked out for 30th Nov next year?? ;D

    Cockling

Tony.. easy as pie mate.35mm, 600 per person per day although about to be reduced to 300 and currently asked to abide by the 300 rule even though not written :angel:To get them you just do a little dance in the sand that would have been red hot back in your early years "the twist" .You quickly feel them under your feet and I usually park my butt in the sand and you will feel them coming up around you as you dig in the sand.I always wear a wet suit to help fight the cold especially when there for hours on end in the water.I normally always go a little deeper than some due to the wetsuit and alw

    Cockling

How has everyone been faring with the cockle season so far ??Went down yesterday arvo for a couple of hours and got our limit. 8)Harder work than previous years but early in the season yet.Heard some people say there aren't many around but found them in huge numbers but mainly babies. ???When we did find some legals they were very good sizes and were always in a group of 3-4 per handful.Happy to have some back in the freezer for a change ;D
  23. Seacliff reef a couple of years ago on cockle. The way it faught and ran I call it for a snapper until I saw the colour and then swore black and blue it was a mully till it hit the deck. Oh well.... http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/GvA8p5kZ__Image000.jpg[/img]
