  1. Very well looked after boat indeed. The pictures speak volumes for the attention it has obviously received previsouly. You should both be very happy and wish you happy boating for years to come...know you will. Just be sure to work into your comfort zones and get used to quirks that every boat has. Did the give you a guide to starting the engine as that can sometimes be the beiggest hassle if your not used to the particular motor. One very lucky man indeed !!
  2. used them a few times now and not really sold. Had rigs made with standard out as well and nothing stood out.
  3. sooo tender though !! at least you got some..as you some...more fishing needed
  4. Good luck...curious on the resluts also.Have tried it several times with salmon and have found the scented lures compared to the same un-scented lures did achieve better results so see how you go on the squidlys !!
  5. for me...7'2" Snapper raider matched with a 2500 Sol (packs a whopping 7kg of drag for a 2500) spooled with 10lb sunline. Pulled in a rnage of fish and some decent rays nearly maxing out the drag. I've got a 4000 freams kix there originally purchased for use on this rod for snapper but generally end up with the sol on.The rods got the guts to handle the biggest of snapper whilst the reel will take a flogging all day long on smaller snapper and give a great account of itself on the big boys. Best thing for me...it's the same setup I use for chucking lures from the beach for sambos then take the
  6. Looks good enough to eat Chuckster !!I could sit down to a plate of those tomatoes let alone thi fish
  7. All good Del...should still be on holidays in Early Aug. We'll hook something up.You coming to the AGM tommorrow night ?
  8. Tell ya what mate...why don't you hang onto them and I'll take you out in the boat one night and have a good go for some reds. At least that way you DO get to use them and it will be out in the boat. I've got a month off coming up when bubs #2 is born next month.
  9. Del I could swing past for a beer and take them off your hands mate? Certainly be great burley for just about anything that swims in my books!!
  10. Another place to try is the inside of Seaford reef just south of the bay. Know a couple of old boys that used to clean up down there. Again a SE helps but an outgoing tide will also assist. Still more a summer spot but seaford has always held good numbers of gar so you never know.
  11. hahha..can you imagine picking your nose with a finger proportioned to that size
  12. My guess..35 cm tube on the absolsute outside. Very close to the camera. Don't get me wrong, nice big squid but no monster. They taste fine that size to by the way...never had any complaints before and doubt I ever will :clap:On a side note...great pic. Teh colours in the squid really make it stand out and it's nice to see someone smiling for a change...(softy... ) Worth sending into Wildcoast for the brag board
  13. One very interesting fish. Would love to see it eating....would be more like inhaling
  14. Purchased a rod from protactic before and know hie gear is in good nic !Buy of the year IMHO.... Hope it gets you hours of pleasure and fish of your dreams..haha...
  15. Take it before someone else does sirwaxxalot !!! Go the sunline...top stuff !!
  16. I'm with he others here....don't spend it all on a rod as you will kick yourself later unless you have the same in the other back pocket to match it with a reel of similar value. My first higher $$ reel was as Brenton mentioned the Daiwa Caldia Kix 2000 and it's still like brand new a few years later going strong. Casts a mile and silky smooth. I have upgraded but it's still my go to as back up or pure fresh. Then get yourself some top quality light weight braid (fins, suffix, sunline..etc)and a nice range of good quality lures. Chuck them all together with your catana and you will love it. In
  17. After the snapper I just had for dinner, I'm going to have to work hard and sus out their movements during winter to re-stock the freezer. Geez they're good eating !Salmon on snapper SP's after dabbling a little in it last winter. Certainly works a treat and you can get them out there and work them a lot longer than a metal. Planning on a new salmon PB
  18. Mate couldn't agree more.Love tommies..love salmon...BUT..Has to be that day. I occasionally eat St's if they have been in the freezer for less than a fortnight, but they normally go into either the smoker, green thai curries or thai patties.Beer battered tommies...I could eat it all day. Great snack to have with a few beers.Saw a good recipe for chopper tailer today which would be just as good for ST's...soon to try..coat fillets in curry powder, pinch of salt and sugar, butter in the pan then add cream right at the end and reduce...looked awesome !!
  19. looks like you just got yourself a new gar rod !!
  20. Not many fish I won't eat and especially through summer eat fish 3-4 times a week.However... many species I hold close and will release unless in knowledge they won't swim away...trout, bream etc...You will always fin redfin, whiting (both YFW and KGW) garfish, snapper and squid in my freezer as these are the main species my wife and son love to eat.Don't mind a feed of salmon, mullet, leatheries and other species most people don't like..but hey...each to their own. Many mates love to fish but don't know how to fillet and there for don't bother keeping any or just take a few for family members.
  21. Must have been a short lived affair mate...never even saw it in your hands !Ivabiggen...not that particular brand but other cheap crap. Since doing homework on my gear and seeking advise before purchasing, i have never had any major issues resulting in lost fish or gear failure at crucial moments. Won't risk it to save a few bucks.Stick with well known brands that carry a decent warranty, back that up with great in-store support and you simply can't go wrong.
  22. No offfence intended here but ever wonder why it's all the same brand ??? It's cheap crap !!Save your bucks up for what year really want, head down to your local tackle store, get some good advice and buy it once ! Look after it, clean it, even whisper sweet nothing to it while polishing it at night after a good days fishing and it will look after you for years and years !Once bitten, twice shy...
