jagger got a reaction from Boyington214 in Whyalla Snapper Comp - Day 1
I spent a few days over there with the boat last year waiting for the wind to setelt and only got out brielfy for bugger all.Still one of the hairiest rides of my life made worse by the fact it was in the dark and we didn't know the area that well.Good luck but by all means, be safe !

jagger got a reaction from thefunkychicken in Custom Whiting rod.
Very nice rod !I'm sure it can handle a lot more than 6kg to ! High sticking it out of a boat is another story all together.I landed a 8.81kg Cod today on a 2piece Starlo stix that I had snapped the tip off.Never doubted it and it was the reel (2000 Freams Kix) that was lacking. Mind you on 4lb line I was never going to give it too much drag !Moral of the story...play them out and you WILL win no matter how underated the stick

jagger got a reaction from statesquider in Just Ordered My New Daiwa Seajigger
Ended up getting the Daiwa Jig caster 97MH.The 315 just didn't feel right. Great for 30gm but wouldn't like to get it my all with 40gmThey didn't have the 305 in stock and upon checking...neither did anywhere else :(The Jig caster felt great and feel comfortable puting my 100kg frame behind it so we will see how that goes on the weekend ! Certainly going to be able to cast a country mile further then the 7'6" !!

jagger got a reaction from urhookedfish in Small spin reel recommendations.
Can ask a question?.....With that many smaller model reels already, why the need for another?I know, I know....you can never have too many but ...??My sol goes from bream to trout, snapper to cod and squid to ...well you get the picture

jagger got a reaction from Boyington214 in Longliner fishing Grange Tyre Reef
Just throwing this out there as a theory that could work in towards what you guys are talking about....Could it not be a classic example of when the larger fish are in less numbers then the smaller fish breed more rapidly as opportunity/less competition? Who really knows how they compete for breeding rights, surely it goes on ? Bream show signs of breeding, do snapper? This has been discussed many times over here with carp so why would the theory not be the same for snapper? Anyway...just spit balling as to why there is the volume of juveniles and what appears to be less older snapper.

jagger got a reaction from JMIG in I thought I would share this...
If the current one says no then maybe the new one will say it's ok..hehehe  Drive past it everyday as well....hard to keep on the road with your head doing the exorcist head twist on the way past looking at the boats

jagger got a reaction from urhookedfish in crossing st vincent gulf
Watch the weather all week and pick the days where it's not going to blow up more than 5-10 knots with minimal swell all day. No point heading over there in dead flat conditions on to come back at a snails pace in 20 knot winds chewing up a heap of fuel. That's another thing...make sure you take plenty !!!I would suggest teeing it up to go over with another boat for the first time to help build some confidence.Do some long range trips and get used to the boat first

jagger got a reaction from afishyfish in Biggest snapper
20 mins if that on a flat day from WB to sullies with a motor around 100 horse. JuDging by the look of the boat, it's an 18fter + probably with a decent donk so no worries !!!

jagger got a reaction from alexczarn in Loosing salmon at the waters edge
Single hook by far in my opinion. Changed to them a couple of season back and can only recall dropping 2 fish now in the surf obviously due to bad hook setting. I prefer the owner style assist hooks with the kevlar loop as it's extremely difficult for them to shake it loose. Not the cheapest but catch rate makes up for that!
