  1. New Ci4+ aren't as good as the Ci4 originals. The FJs were a brilliant reel, I knocked my 1000 around a lot and it's still going strong minus the cosmetics. The FKs are wicked reels as well imo. Really solid but still have that finesse element to them.
  2. I'll take it off your hands if I must; I'm all for helping out fellow fishos. What don't you like about it Fishingmad? Have heard some have issues with flex in the reel stem? His Stradic has problems staying on the land, it wants to go and swim with fish all the time I've heard from a few customers who prefer the old Stradic Ci4 that Southie has over the new ones. They thinks it's not as good quality for what you pay. I've got the new Daiwa Caldia 2506 and I love mine, very smooth, light, etc.
  3. Can also be a case of larger fish having a greater amount of red muscle in the flesh; this gives off a fishy taste when eaten.
  4. They have two pontoons to fish from that aren't too bad. Both had shade on the top and ample seating for four people to fish from. I managed to get mainly carp from them but a mates brother landed a nice callop and a juvenile cod last summer just gone
  5. Blanchetown's Big 4 is on the river front where you can walk less than 100m with your yak to launch. I have stayed there for a few summers in recent years and their service was quite good. I can't remember the pricing for the cabins, as we stayed in tents though.
  6. I have found similar too Keeno. That day us Southerners joined you up north, all my YFW had the first treble in the mouth and then back treble in its side or under the chin. I have seen a few Bassday Sugapens rigged with micro-assist hooks, 5cm of 50lb braid and size 12 singles tied to it. They'd work fine for yfw. As for the Molix popper, given the profile, I'd only run trebles when targeting rats and salmon off the top.
  7. I'm pretty sure I put #2 trebles on mine but you could go bigger in singles as they'll weigh less.
  8. We have had a few customers buying them ready for snapper season to fully kick off. A guy bought one a few saturdays back in the morning on his way to West Beach at around 9am; he came back in to the store at about 4pm and wanted to buy more as he'd done well on ruggers out from Glenelg on them. He even showed us the head and it had a heap of snapper bite marks on it. He bought the squid coloured one in 40g if I recall.
  9. I looked at it like it was a micro dumb bell popper in profile. I change the hooks on all my lures to Owners as that's all I run for trebles. Plus I don't want to hook a better than average fish and find them to break off. It says on the packet who supplies the hooks but I can't remember.
  10. I bought one of the small poppers when they arrived at work about two months ago. They work quite well as a top water lure for salmon and I'd imagine yellowfin in summertime would have a go as well. I originally bought it for micro popping rat kingfish but will have to wait until summer for that. The smaller minnows looks great as well but I haven't bought one yet
  11. Plenty of info in these previous threads on bream rods; http://www.strikehook.com/index.php/topic/23825-new-bream-rod/ http://www.strikehook.com/index.php/topic/23613-trout-redfin-rod/ http://www.strikehook.com/index.php/topic/19383-light-spin-rod/ There are heaps of light rods in that range that are affordable. Samaki do a couple of nice 1-3kg rods, as do Daiwa such as the Gen Blacks. Shimano have 1-3kg rods as well that are usually 6'6" and two piece.
  12. Awesome work mate, especially at the price these great baits go for in the shops!
  13. Great idea Keeno! I reckon we'd be able to do that and pick up people from the south for the road trip. Also we'll have another fishing day in Spring somewhere.
  14. Wicked report Sbarnden! Only ventured up there once last year for yfw as Keeno mentioned using poppers, but with the salmon season slow down the surf beaches might be time to head north for light tackle luring.
  15. Agree with all the above, awesome work getting out there Plankton! Have heard that there are a few schools moving up and down the southern coast everyday as far as Myponga up to Southport. Suppose it's just a case of being at the right beach right time.
  16. Go to the bottom, click more return options and it should expand the reply box and have an 'add attachments' button. Then just add the photo file and then it'll add it to your reply.
  17. Still looks awesome, might have to hit you up for a bit of tech know-how
  18. That's awesome Bjorn! Love the intro/ending of the video. How do you make such as thing for the video?
  19. Going arse up mid fight of fish is my most common incidents whilst fishing. Stacking it fighting a good bream in the Onk and getting covered in filthy mud from head to toe. Using bream gear off the rocks at the end of Browns Beach and stepping on the green algae crap, slippery like soap, and landing on my hip. Loooong walk back in the sand with a bruised side and ego. Also stacked it many times in the creeks chasing trout with crappy boot treads on smooth stones.
  20. Good form man! Great to see someone putting them to use.
  21. Awesome work Joe, nice fish! Interesting to see the trouts morphology, must be the rare hunchback trout hahaha
  22. I knew you wouldn't have too much trouble up there to find some bream. Not too long before that'll really fire up
  23. I've had a few donut sessions and had some ripper fish in between. Highlights are the kilo bream from the Pat, loads of salmon at Waits, a few brown trout and my first cod over the weekend. Lowlights are probably metro salmon fishing at the moment and missing out on an Augusta trip due to bad weather
  24. No mine do that too, I believe it's because of the neoprene sticking tight to your body like a wetsuit does. However waders have the waterproof lining inside them so nothing gets in or out
  25. If you can, get neoprene waders. So much warmer than PVC and slightly more comfortable. Try and get waders where the straps are wide over the shoulder so they don't dig in and make long days out uncomfortable.
