    winds

hi allwhat winds are best(direction) for fishing metro in a boat. Is it true that the fish dont bight as well when its blowing from the east or is this an old wives tale. I have a quintrex 4.7 metre runabout and dont mind it a bit choppy but dont like being yoyoed all over the place. my old knees get too sore trying to stay upright lol and my wife gets seasick :vomit: if ifs too ruff  rocket

  6. essentials for most fishing tripstinned food- baked beans, spaghetti,Irish stew, Braised steak and onions, sausages and veg, steak and veg.(use these for quick meals when fish are biting and you dont want to be away from the lines long (can be eated hot or cold)Fresh food- onions, potatoes, tomatoes, (onions & tomatoes can be cooked or eaten raw in salads) potatoes cooked as chips on bbq or wrapped in foil and baked in firefresh meat- snags, steak, bacon (cover most meals)Cooked meat- fritz, ham, corned beef (make sangers when in a hurry to get back fishing or just for a snack)these are ess
  7. If the trip is for a few days to a week take a camp oven, some lamb shanks, lamb chops or lamb offcuts and some soup veg make a nice lamb stew first day, add more vegies and meat each day after you are sick of stew (couple of days add some curry power and have a nice lamb curry for the next couple of days, this is a better Idea in the colder months as if the stew is not refrigerated after each meal it can go off quickly in hot weather, the flavour will get better as time increases usually best by third day, in colder weather goes well with a nice red wine followed by a nice port to finish off.
  8. I recently bought a Hark gas smoker ($299) but worth every cent. Have tried a few different brines and also smoke some fish without brining it at all (the wife prefers them this way I dont mind them either way.)brine mix I use is this ratio1 litre of water60 grams of salt20 grams of sugar30 grams of maple crystalsyou can vary the salt/sugar quantities a little to suit you taste but I find this ratio very nice and not toooo salty. I have used it on everything from tommies, slimeys, snook, deep sea bream, snapper and barramundi wings and squid they all taste great when finished.I have tried soak
