  1. I have only been to the Onk a couple of time myself, and with little luck, but from what I have seen of other peoples experience it is a great place to get a feed if you get to know the area and go off the beaten track.Have had a fair amount of luck at garden island, at the right time the salmon trout come through and the Jetty can be good for decent bream when they are on the bite, nothing huge but around the 30cm mark.Still looking for a consistently good spot myself, but have recently purchased a Kayak to get further out and onto the fish. See other people having a lot of luck landbased, bu
  2. Thanks for the invites to come fishing guys, very keen. Have sent messages and would love to go sometime.Cheers
  3. Thanks for the advice, I will definitely try West Lakes. Could I please get a map coordinate or closest street to meter mark, once again another area I only tried once and do not know well.Definitely the chase that keeps us going, I enjoy fishing greatly even if i'm just catching and releasing undersized fish. Would love just one monster though, I know if I had a boat or a friend with a boat it would make the chase much easier lol.Is there a lot of bastard trumpeters in West Lakes or would I be better off going to Garden Island and catching 10 or so shitties then taking them to West Lakes?I'm
  4. Hey guysInterested in trying my hand at fishing in the Onk, have only been there once and it was a dodge tide so I decided to go to Larg's instead.I am not looking for any secret spots but anything better than near the public car parking areas would be great.I have seen spots like Perry's Bend and Between the mouth and certain bridges, but not knowing the area at all I have no idea where these areas are, lol.If anyone could show me a google map with a marker or 2 on it, preferably where to park and where to fish from it would be great.Have not had a lot of luck lately with the last 5 or so tri
  5. The black one looks beautiful and like it would be light as hell! The gold one..... mmm bit tacky.
  6. Haven't tried any of those areas for squid myself, but down that way Brighton - Glenelg is killer for squid, the brighton jetty is good but overfished, so if you can get a couple hundred meters out on the boat you will get heaps, possibly even bag limit.I always use tommies on a jag, plastic jigs up that way have been useless for me unless there is a tommie out on a line aswell and use the plastics to tease them into striking it, but usually i will catch 3 on tommies for every one on plastics.Find a nice weedy area with a sandy patch in the middle and cast there, never fails for me.Hope this h
  7. Just a quick post to say thankyou to UrHookedFish and Crispy for the great deals on wonderful equipment.Very happy with the rod Brett, was able to have a good look and I LOVE It! The quality is amazing and it's incomparable with anything I have ever owned before thanks mate. Only stayed 1hr at Brighton and caught nothing before going to see Crispy, too much noise on the Jetty i think, but did see some snook splash about, wish I had a reel for the venom and my plastics with me lol.Am a also very happy with the fish finders Chris, turned on both units when I got home and like both for different
  8. I'm going to be running 65lb braid Spiderwire Camo on my smaller 4500 reels because I was buying it for my shark rod and changed my mind after buying it as i only get to go sharking once a year and my lighter outfits are much more important now I have bought a tinny, can't get a refund and don't have the cash for another 300yd, so i'm going to have to use it I guess lol poor fish don't stand a chance.... atleast it's not as bad as someone i read about using 80lb braid for flathead XDEh maybe i'll just leave the mono on for now and sell the braid for what it cost me, or spool it onto my shark
  9. Thanks for the link fishie as I am very interested in this also as every time I have used pillies they are so horrible thawed and end up flying the opposite direction to the hook :silly: so ive ended up using them as berley. A Couple of questions in that thread that went unanswered i also wonder about, does it work with frozen pillies that are thawed and where to buy fresh. Also a couple of my own, will this work with frozen whitebait or prawns as i have found both horrible to use, even considered using raw green prawns for human consumption as bait despite being expensive would that work wi
  10. Gee thats a hard one, lots of fish I love to eat, lots I haven"t tried and even more I haven't tried fresh.First that come to mind are: Whiting (All Varieties), Bream, Flake, Flathead, Garfish and Salmon in no particular order. Also is dogshark actually nice Codey or just a joke, most people I meet hate catching "the bait stealing bastards" (their words not mine) got told they taste like boots, 1 guy left 6 on the Jetty to die, I walked up to throw them back in but even though still breathing it was too late and they sank like rocks
  11. Can't say I have eveer caught one, but now I really want to eat one so I guess I have to catch one lol, reckon I could get far enough off Cape Jervis in a 12ft Tinny to catch one?
