  1. Just got an email from StrikeHook telling me ive been inactive and theres a salmon comp on, best email ever! 1 week and 1 day til I head off fishing :D
  2. Hi guys, Got a bucket load of ST's, a few mullet and one 60cm (from memory) mully from inside the coorong opposite hindmarsh island. It was our first time down there we packed the swags, some wood, chucked it in the boats and set up camp. what a great spot! but man it was cold haha! Then more recently down salt creek, crossing at 42 mile and heading north. got only a couple of salmon, a couple soapies, a 4ft wide melbourne skate that had me chasing it a quarter mile down the beach (cooking and fishing dont always go hand in hand, any longer before checking the reel and I wouldve been spool
  3. Cheers Crusher yep I've heard good things about Middle Beach and the ramp there so I'll be giving that a go next
  4. Great posts here but this thread is torture - I haven't caught either one of them once!!! (I dont believe that "Snapper" charters really count, half the fun is working hard to find your own grounds with your own gear). Such great fish, cant wait til I finally do land both species!
  5. I had a little look at the fast facts pdf and the proposed marine park locations... although the marine parks tend to take up a lot of area it says we are still allowed to fish within them and that only a small section of the marine parks will be a sanctury? Ofcourse maybe that's the governments way to get people (such as myself) onside just to stick the knife in when we turn our backs and have larger sancturies than first proposed - but if thats not the case these Marine Parks can only be a good thing right?I'm sure its not that simple so I'll await some spray :)Mark.
  6. Don't get me wrong Sambo life jackets save lives (like seatbelts)... but law or not any department is going have a tough time implementing them - and $100 for a pfd .vs. a possible 1 in a million $80 fine I know what people would decide... I've never been pulled up by fisheries once?Education is generally key in these type of things. Unfortunately some people think they're "educated" enough sometimes.... Ya cant wrap people in bubble wrap, shit can and will happen and hopefully they people left behind take heed to their mistakes.
  7. Very sad,Unfortunately seat belts have been compulsory for a long time, everyone knows that risks - yet still people dont wear em. Life jackets and rock fishing would be even harder to implement.
  8. I have never heard of this event until now! Really keen to give it a go!
  9. Haha yeah, I've been failing at fishing for so long now it'd be pointless to give up, its in my blood!
  10. That's right Jack, its generally the people that have cheap cars that end up stolen and they're the people that probably don't have insurance (I know I don't!). I'm no saint but there's a difference between sticking it to the man and ripping of someone that probably struggles from week to week.I reckon you may be on to something with the tide times also - in this case it was probably out more than what I thought (I had St. Kilda tide times) but there could be a bit of difference and the water was rushing out bloody fast! I'll probably try to get out on an incoming next time!
  11. Well not much to report :(After notifying the cops about some poor P platers stolen car that got dumped in the river... I got the tinny in the river and out to the mouth around 8.30am - when the tide should have been around 1.3 mtrs and on its way out (according to willyweather)... Unfortunately this wasn't enough water and after a few failed attempts to find a small channel out (and a spot of wading when I got beached!) I decided to head back in before I run out of water completely!Deciding not to fish in the river and (as mentioned by Silaflex), worrying about my commodore having a similar d
  12. Cheers for the tips guys!Yeah I'm well aware of the dodgey's that happen out there. I think a lot of the burnt out cars that are dumped there are probaby stolen from the subburbs... hopefully they dont have to steal mine to get back home again!! I'll be taking a couple relays out with me just in case! :unsure:At this stage I'm thinking I may try and slip out when the tides at 1.3m or higher (8am-9am), head for deeper water and fish during the low tide, then head back in around 2-3pm when the tides coming in and back up to 1.3-1.5mtrs? I guess my biggest fear with that is if I get stuck on the
  13. Hi Guys,New to the forum, although I have been reading through it for about a year! Dont really eat fish but for some reason just cant shake the urge to head out and get some - mostly with little luck!Got myself a little 12ft tinny, took it out st. kilda a couple weeks back for its 1st run for a couple hours, got 6 ST's but nothing special... On my way home to the barossa i stopped in at port gawler for a look and I'm pretty keen to hit it this friday (weather looks promising). Ive read as much as I can about it and all I've found out is that the Bream are plentiful but illusive and be careful
