Live Fibre reacted to ausea in Surf rod advice
The Wilson 12Ft 8144 was being used here by 3 of the guys fishing. The main guy in the footage (Steve) uses a Wilson 8144 and he only uses one piece rods as 2 piece snap on him.He uses a variety of reels including a penn spinfisher 950.Hope this helps deciding.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-vCD1fcDaw

Live Fibre reacted to kadava in Port Rickaby,Yorkes
I love Port Rickaby, plenty of Gar and Squid off the jetty. Never caught KGW off the jetty itself but have from barkers rocks and also YFW, ST's and Flathead (altho no legal lizards... yet!). There's lots of reef to fish off also when the tides right. Hopefully going there this weekend actually

Live Fibre got a reaction from Damo67 in 1st Attempt at Home made berley blocks
We freeze our berley in 1 litre milk cartons.........nice sized blocks that fit most berley pots.Find that "really fine chopped" berley "clouds" as it thaws........great for whiting.......where as the "chunkier" style is better for snapper as the blood thaws, and "oozes" in the current..........be careful of big rays on your pot

G"day LF, give the thought of disregarding the jetties and hordes a miss and try the local beaches and rocks around wallaroo, Hughes, Turton ect, avoid the masses and maybe unlock a very nice piece of your own utopia.Went to Ardrossan, in 3 days never set foot on the jetty and came home with an eski full of bream , mullet, Tommy and flathead fillets.Cheers

Live Fibre reacted to jimbojames in Metro Mulloway status anyone?
Went down the local haunt in the Mully Magnet . Caught enough bait for a good sesh . Had to wait a bit for the tide to do it's thing . Had three runs , hooked up to the first but when i got the fish close to the MM the hooks pulled and the sinker jumped out the water an landed next to me . Second run was a decent fish but when i went to set the hooks the bait came back whole . Third run i had a decent hook up and landed a nice schoolie 49cm , tagged then released it back . Was happy with one and it was getting late so packed up and went home .

There a few years ago, we caught bag limits of squid from the end of the jetty, and plenty of gar and tommies. very under-rated jetty for table species.

Live Fibre reacted to Cal in Metro Mulloway status anyone?
Yeah maybe the bigger lost ones... fish heavier, I know of a particular well known guy who got a 70 lber and uses TLDs on tough blanks, the motto is better a pic of him holding it up for the camera than another heartbreak of the fish busting off.I remember when i use to chase them[havent for ages], started off using the fancy light latest and greatest,in the end was using the cheapest toughest 30lb mono could lay my hands on matched up to a daiwa black gold 60 and sabre 540h, started to win a few...still lost some but won a few more than what i was previously.[but i was landbased]Just a thought

Live Fibre reacted to Cal in Snyder/wilson FT5120 10FT 8inch
Nice rod, cast a mile, light and tough.. if i had a dollar for every salmon and mully caught on one I'd be laying on a hammock on my 70 foot yacht getting handed cold tinnies by half nude penthouse pets..............

Live Fibre reacted to Knackers in Snyder/wilson FT5120 10FT 8inch
Mate, I have a Wilson Livefibre 5120 in overhead that I use with an ABU 9000 with 30lb mono for casting big lures and baits. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. I even used it to cast some lighter (but bigger) poppers and lures at some Kingies of the beach this XMas and it surprised me even with the lighter weights.

Live Fibre reacted to projoe in Wilson FSU 4120 spin.
this blank was primally designed to cast lures (only 4 wraps of glass) with 8 to 10kg line & lures weighing up to 75gms my recommended rod would be a 8144 this has 8 wraps of glass & will handle up to 15kg line large baits & heavy sinkers alot better.

Live Fibre reacted to Malloy in Salt creek trip 22-23 January
So my dad, brother and myself piled in to my dads 4WD and decided to go down to salt creek for a over night trip. We left about 6.30 Am on the 22 of january two see if we could get our lines wet and get tangled with a big mulloway or 2. We got down there about 10 o'clock and some friends were there already they had caught a 3 foot gummie shark and a ray just before we got there they had pulled in there lines because it was low tide and lot of weed around and you couldn't put your rod into the water with out getting tangled up. We sat around for a while until about twelve then we all decided to go for a drive so we all jumped in the ute and started heading along the beach we went about 5 km from camp and found a nice gutter and threw our lines in the water there. Then about 10 minutes after putting our rods into the water BZZZZZZ! the drag takes off on one of our reels my dad runs off and grabs the rod and sets the hooks, by this time the rods tip is almost touching the ground. We first thought if was a ray until we saw it in the surf it was a big mulloway he fought it for about 5-10 minutes then got it on the beach I ran down and gafed it that was my dads first big mulloway. fished for a while after that and nothing else went back to camp and hung it on some scales and it weighed in at 23 lb.

Live Fibre got a reaction from wishing2Bfishing in Favorite form of fishing??
I love fishing the sands of Yorkes, whether it be the surf at Browns, or wading the flats on the incoming tide for whiting and mullet on it's upper Eastern beaches.I've done my time on rock's and planks, getting older now,and the knee's aren't the same anymore The beaches are a mellow place to be Great snap by the way

Live Fibre reacted to ChuckTseeker in Stansbury Thieves
sorry to hear of your loss, i have friends that live there and they have never said it was a bad area? Now didn't you say it fell off your ute and was on the road? how did these people steal it? sounds like they found it. if you didn't go to the police station to report it how do you know they didn't hand it in as found property?as said sorry for your loss but i think its a bit rough starting a thread putting down a country town and calling people names when you lost it! Stansbury is a nice place, my friends who live there and i have never had any trouble there!cheers chuck
