Well they can't put the blame onto the recreational fisher with the restrictions already placed on them,, perhaps it's time to have a hard look into the professional side of fishing a little more..

I've got a SUV and I normally head between 5 to 7 kms down the beach. You can just seem them rolling in the surf and there is no pressure from others. With the smaller limits though, you can definitely get them in good numbers without taking the car.

If using mono line no real need for a leader.
I use 3lb straight through fluorocarbon and love it for flicking plastics and hardbodies.
If you feel like you need a leader i use the albright knot. Its simple to tie and nice and strong.
I prefer this knot as its easy to tie with my chunky fingers...

I have lived in coastal country SA for heaps of years from Thevenard to Port Vic. and many  places in between.
From my experience and people that I have met , The golden rule in respect to country towns  is
If Your Missus Likes It You Will Like It.
Pick a town you like, stay in a rental for a couple of weeks during the winter when there is not much movement and take it from there.
    Good Luck with your move.

Probably a bit to do with their diet as well.  I'm careful when filleting all fish.  If you cut the stomach cavity sometimes the colour/smell puts you off immediately.
The texture of the bigger ones can be a bit coarse which may not suit everyone.
Anyway sitting down to a whiting steak has always appealed to me...

Although it's horrific to hear that somone has been killed or attacked by a shark, the stats show that on average only 3 people are killed each year from shark attacks.  If people were really concerned about saving lives of humans it would make more sense to focus on activities that kill much more people each year, than trying to cull sharks to reduce shark related deaths.

Globally and in Australia there is a trend of increasing shark attacks and deaths.  Experts say this is more likely due to an increasing global population and more people enjoying water based activities, more so than a massive resurgence of shark numbers around the world.

The irony is there are about 300 people that die from drowning each year in Australia.  Although not of all these occurred in the ocean, a good portion did, so on this basis there's a good argument to suggest that if people stayed out of the water they'd significantly help reduce the mortality rate related to drownings and shark attacks.

So with the change we had the other day and checking the radar there was signs of lightning that could be heading through Adelaide. I checked the radar after I finished work and saw that most of the lightning was down the south coast, So i didn't worry about it.

Then i get a message from my mate to get down the beach as the lightning was coming. SO raced off to Porties and met up with him. By the time I got there it was gone and my mate left, i thought id hang around to see if anymore was on it's way.

I am glad i stayed! Even though I waited and sat through the periods inbetween flashes which was nearly 4 hours and not having my remote on me to use bulb mode for long exposures. I managed to come up with these 3 crackers.

Now bare in mind that there has been no editing or photoshop, this is how it came straight off the camera! Im pretty impressed with how they turned out.

    Hope you enjoy.

Hi Cal, I find that style A is best for getting a secure hookup. C can result in more snags than the others, B is good if you are fishing snagging waters as the hooks will get less snagged.

Hi guys,Haven't been online for ages but thought I would share a personal triumph of mine and believe it or not caught this bad boy from my own tub which makes it so much more meaningful. Caught down the south east about a month ago after a long fishing drought due to building a house and losing my job amongst other things. Bled weight was 108kg caught on a billmark skirt in Lumo. Outfit was okuma makaira 80w on custom status deluxe game rod. Also released one of similar size aswell which we didnt get any pics of as we were only 2 up and put the fishes health 1st for the release. Also special mention to my mate Shaun who was a big part of this, this kind of fishing is definitely a team sport.cheers

The Plan: Start at 10am at Southport and hit most southern beaches through to Sellicks and return finishing aback at Southport.

    Did it succeed: Nope.

OK, so decided to hit Southport at 10am leading to the low tide at 11.30am and to lure for Salmon all day.
Was not expecting to catch anything at Southport, as have not yet done so, plus the low tide was not going to help any.

The only thing happening or moving at Southport were the walkers along the beach.
(now I'm not talking walkers from "The Walking Dead" from the series for those who have watched it).

So after about an hour luring it was off to Maslins and still only half expecting anything to take a lure at this stage of the day.

But, some excitement for me....a green floating ball.

But that was enough excitement for me, and as not takers for my lure it was off to Pt Willunga.

Arrived at the carpark and had a bite to eat whilst surveying the area - looked good.

Then.....something caught my eye......another bloody ball.  Thought for a moment it got here from Maslins before I did, but a different colour, but at least it smiled

So back to luring at yet again something took my eye....

    Then it all appeared.....a shark?

    Nope....a friendly.

There was probably about a dozen dolphins swimming around about only 50m out and with some chasing something out there.

So I replaced my Halco 40g lure to a Halco 55g lure for a little extra distance thinking they might be scaring some Salmon closer to shore.

Just purchased these Halco's so was hoping for results.

Third cast and twang, the Halco 55g travelled very well and sunk to the ocean floor

So here is a tip for all: Always make sure your reel latch is open before casting

The dolphins headed North - the way I was going anyway and then one dolphin leaped out of the water with wave - looked fantastic - I gave it a 10

    They were then gone.

Maybe they scared some Salmon in close as this was the result near the Northern end.

So I was happy that, to get something was a relief, but then.........it happens again

    Yep, another   ball.

What is it with balls today I have no idea, but they are following me

The few Salmon were then also gone and was thinking now to go to Sellicks, but this was in the distance

Now I was thinking I was not prepared for that much rain and seeing I had hooked a few at PW, why not stick to a good thing.

Got a little bored with no takers so I etched this into the sand.

If you can't make it out, it says 'Strike Hook.com'

So ended up staying at PW without going back to Maslins or Southport due to time (about 4pm now).

But a great day of weather and entertainment plus a bonus Salmon and ST.

G"day Aquatic research1,I have used the line for redfin ,carp and salmon trout ,and have to say this as my honest assesment.
Its very good line, doesnt wind knot, casts well ,fishes nice but.....it doesnt really seem to have any advantages over a good quality braid, not for one second does it have any  characteristics of mono, although it  is one fibre as opposed to braids several fibres fused together,it behaves just like a braid.
Its good  for sure, but not revolutionary.
    Cheers
