It also makes it easier to unhook the fish for a better release.

Been doing it to my freshwater hardbodies and really wish I had started using single hooks years ago.

And you can change them back to trebles quickly and easily if you want.

When I was a lad my dad kept the worms in an old copper, that use to be used for heating water, it was full of horse poop and table scraps, and had a couple of hessian sacks on the top, when ever we wanted worms, you just wet the sacks, the next day you lifted the sacks and there were hundred, between the sack and the dirt at the top, he swore by tiger worms.
 

We did the same using hessian bags.

Big plastic pot with filtered holes at the bottom with heaps of soggy cardboard and newspaper to start with earthy loam on top of that mixed with some low PH potting soil. Mushroom compost on top with the kitchen scraps thrown in underneath a moist canvas bag.

Works brilliant for tiger worms and they are a good size compared to the stuff most places sell.

I recommend you chop your pumpkin up into little pieces so it composts quicker and helps your worms feed easier.

I like redfin. Don't like Karen.

Redfin are pigs. Have caught 6" redfin on 10" scrubworms and they were hooked deep.

There is a Karen at Wynn Vale dam that I call the goose lady.

She likes to feed the ducks and geese right next to where we are fishing wherever we are.

Gets angry when the birds she is feeding get tangled up in our lines but hates it even more when we cuddle the ducks and safely remove the line and let them go.

I think she wants to cuddle the ducks too but when she tries to they bite her.

Best thing to see when it happens so rarely.

When I was a little fella living at Barmera I remember seeing big carp jumping out of the water about sunset.

I know now that big carp will eat the smallest insect.

Works for fly fishing but when bait fishing I still believe big worms will catch the biggest fish.

Love my scrubworms.

Got waders and waterproof clothes but the wind could be a problem.

Will be fishing low in the valley so hopefully it will only be heavy flow to worry about.

Rain doesn't bother me too much and apparently it is better for catching trout.

Torrens River will be flowing hard after the heavy rainfall predicted over the next few days.

Checking out the spots above Kangaroo Creek Reservoir you recommended but I think SA Water has claimed them and they are now off limits.

Looking at Mt Pleasant at the source of the Torrens downstream on Google Earth but everything above Gumeracha Weir is off limits.

Thinking of buying some trout fingerlings and stocking some dams if my mates let me.

Good place to live up here in One Tree Hill but we get nervous in bushfire season after the Sampson Flat fire a few years ago.

I know St Kilda is a bit of a hike but if I wanted a salmon on fly I would seriously consider pulling on the waders and heading out on a high tide at the crack of dawn.

Low wind would be an advantage but at the end of the breakwater you can fish both sides and cast with it.

One of my mates was telling me today how he caught salmon at St Kilda on a sinking fly cast in the middle of the school.

Got me thinking about trying it myself in a few weeks when they really get hungry.

Long walk out for them at St Kilda. And I have best results with little Spanyid Raiders and weedless soft plastic minnows so would most likely stick with those.

But keen to get one on fly also.

Really appreciate that mate.

Fished bait up the Warren for a donut yesterday. Expected it coz it is very cold and the natives shut down this time of year.

Fished Springbank today for a donut on bait but also put the waders on and fly casted a few wooly buggers at some carp and dropped a nice fish.

Still learning fly fishing.

Will be back up Corkscrew Rd next weekend with some spinners and small hardbodies to hopefully pin my first trout.

Got some good rainfall predicted on Wednesday and Thursday and keen to see how it flows by Saturday.

Also got a BCF down the road from me at Elizabeth.

Great place to visit but they keep having a 3 day sale every 3 days and bombard me with emails.

They also sold me a Shimano Stradic ci4 for $200 when I nagged them.

If only they could stock decent live freshwater bait like scrubbies and crawlers.

Will keep nagging them.

Wigston has a website with a similar anti kink keel but are currently out of stock.

Will keep looking.

Otherwise I will just use ball bearing swivels to reduce the line twist.

Looking at stocking up on some more Mepps spinners and if you could let me know the best place to get them would be much appreciated.

Hey mate where do you get those anti kink keels you rig up with.

Been running 6lb braid to 1.5m of 5lb flourocarbon leader and noticed some line twist when using the spinners.

Not a problem with the little hardbodies but I like your idea of using small snap swivels to save time changing lures.

Even Little Para River is off limits above the Reservoir due to it belonging to SA Water.

Seems to me like the best waters around Adelaide are off limits or private property.

You are definitely fishing in good trout real estate there.

Sixth Creek is narrow at times but the water is clear.

Torrens is murky from Kangaroo Creek Reservoir down the weir down near the suburbs.

Gets clear again where it gets shallow again above Gumeracha Weir. It needs more rainfall up there especially from Mt Pleasant where it has its origins.

Most sections high up in the Torrens are no access due to the SA Water mentality.

Been about five years since I last pumped for nippers but at Snowdens to the left of the boat ramp at low tide below .02m there are plenty.

Just look for the small holes.

Sometimes they blow bubbles.
