  1. These would be dynamite hooked up to a weedless jighead and cast into snags on the River Murray. And I wouldn't mind trying them at a few SAFWAA dams, when they finally get released.Cheers for the heads up Tony. :cheer: :cheer:
  2. Always entertaining and informative reading your posts Des.If it isn't the ting tings, it's the lizards, mate you make it look easy! Thanks as always for sharing your knowledge with us.A true guru. :f
  3. Very nice, awesome fish Knackers. You must be stoked with that prize mate, well done.
  4. Good point mate.My local bream spot will soon be over-run by the white bucket brigade.Happens every year, every man and his dog will be taking bream home. Many of those fish won't be legal size.I understand why many folks voted no, now I'm in two minds about it.
  5. I can't understand why any fisho would have voted NO.I also can't work out why so many voted NO!Oh well I guess Callop Hunter will be going for a paddle now.Saw a great big :c off Bronzie down there the other day too......
  6. Wish they did fall in.That's all I've got to say about that.
  7. Go to your local tackle shop and get them to spool up some 4 or 6lb Fins braid.I recommend getting them to do it because they can lay backing and ensure the line goes on at the right tension needed. This will stop air knots and birds nests, and other headaches.Getting backing put on means you won't have to fill the spool with braid, which will save you money.$40 should be enough.
  8. Superb Snapper there Kelvin, very nicely done. And congratulations on your yak PB. Nice day for it.
  9. Hey do any of you guys catch Mulloway on lures and if so, what do you use?
  10. New Zealand Fur Seal by any chance? Send in the sharks with frikken lazer beams on their heads....
  11. And they say that the octopus is the one of the most intelligent species in the ocean. This just proves it. :woohoo: :woohoo:
  12. Man, I can only dream of catching a fish like that. And how about all that bling lined up along the boat.Got any more clips like that??
  13. The only time I have heard of massive Bream 50cm or more being caught was from the Coorong many years ago, but I am not sure they were as big as 55cm.Can Bream even get that big, considering the amount of fishing pressure they would get by commercial fishos in the Coorong, and recreationals in West Lakes??Knowing that a Bream that big would be something like 40 years old, do they even live that long??A 55cm Bream would most likely end up in a fishing mag brag board or website somewhere in this digital age almost as soon as it was caught, guaranteed. So the best bet these days Alex, unless you s
  14. Will I get in trouble for bringing this thread up again? It's the funniest thing I have read on Strikehook so far.Does anybody know what happened to the Mad Plopper?
  15. Would be pretty funny seeing a bloke pissing on his hand on a jetty. Not sure if it works but I will know two things about him...1, he caught a flattie2, he has been reading StrikehookInteresting to know about the anti-coagulant.
  16. Soak them in tuna oil overnight, they work pretty good. Can be a little tough when soaked in water for only 20mins.And nowhere near as good as fresh or live bungums.By the way don't buy the frozen bungum worms, they are just mush.
  17. Never been spiked too deeply yet from a flattie, so haven't suffered the intense pain that others might have. However I have heard of a rumour that if you smear the guts from the flathead you have caught over the wound, that this is supposed to alleviate the pain.I think I read that in a fishing book somewhere.Other members might have more info.
  18. You have gotta love blades, they seem to catch just about anything.Bream, Salmon, Mulloway, Snook, I have even caught a small Snapper on one.And you can get multiple hits from fussy fish by dipping them in tuna oil before casting.Best of all they cast like bullets.Great video post mate, really enjoyed watching it.
  19. Nice Lakes Mully mate, well done.Great to see it swim off to fight again another day.
  20. I wont go lighter than 6lb coz I am chicken.I have busted off too many good lures on big fish when fishing with 4lb, so 6lb or more it is.I have to respect a fella who will fish with 2lb, I don't know if it would be any easier in a yak, but I know landbased you can run out of options pretty quick when a decent horse bream jumps on and you are fishing around structure.Good fishing clip, thanks for sharing.
  21. Politicians are like reverse kangas.....they can go in any direction.Doesn't matter who we vote for, they all promise us everything before the election, then leave us with regrets after.Vote Sex Party for shits and giggles!
  22. And if your not catching fish like a pro, they will give your money back.I wish every fishing rod came with a guarantee like that.Bit of a fugly combo though.
  23. I have used the Instinct flouro, and I think it's not too bad. If you are on a budget then I would recommend it, just don't over stress it.Word of warning on the Instinct swivels though, I have had a few swivels fail in some tense moments, often they have broken in the barrel, which had me swearing in seven different languages because each time I had lost good size fish. Most of the other Instinct brand stuff is fairly good quality.Instinct Blades are a good example, I only bought them because they were selling 5 for $20, and so far they haven't disappointed me. And being cheaper means I don't
  24. As always Des, brilliant report. You truly are the Whiting Whisperer. Are you still targeting the Northern sand flats or were this lot more metro?
