  1. Noice fish!! I wish that bikini would get out of the way so I can see what's going on.
  2. Yip, very bug fush. I haven't heard that much swearing since I was last on the toilet the day after a fiery beef vindaloo. Having said that, epic fight, and a magnificently muscled up yellowtail kingfish, a fish of a lifetime.
  3. Wouldn't mind pinning a 45cm bream. My biggest is 42, and I have been stuck there for 3 years....twice I have caught a 42 now. Also going to bite the bullet and learn to fly fish. I pretty much target the same species all year round, but I sure enjoy the warmer weather of spring and summer. And so do the fish....
  4. Love your work mate. Only fished the Onk a few times now and haven't nailed anything over 35cm. Did hear of a 42cm bream getting pinned recently, and the big breeders will be moving through soon. Been hearing of some big sea run bream moving into the St Kilda channel recently, so am guessing they will start moving in the Onk at the same time. Nice mulloway too.
  5. Was the water clearer when you were there? Lots of crap and debris and stuff when I was there two weeks ago fouling up hooks. Love your work mate.
  6. I swear you are sponsored by Z-Man mate. Either that or you are bribing the bream with the motor oil Grubz again. Were you using the HB bent minnows this time, I know you have also been having luck with the OSPs??
  7. Spent the last 2 days up the Warren Reservoir. 11 hours of fishing in total for 7 carp, biggest at 73cm, and no redfin at all. Yep....its definitely winter!
  8. The Patawalonga is filthy, very hard to get results today. Few hits near the marina, but we had to cast out far to find any fish. Fished the wharf at the outlet where the water was a bit clearer for 1 bream. Moved to West Lakes, found some KGW holding out in the deeper water, inhaling live bloodworms, still tricky to catch, only kept 1 for a feed that wouldn't swim. Changed locations a few times, ending up with a few bream around 30, again on live bloodworms. Incidentally, the water in WL is crystal clear, as is the Port River around the outlet, but the fishing in the Port side seemed com
  9. To me that just looks like a plate full of bait..... With a bit of parsley on top. What sauce goes best with it mate?
  10. BIG bream in Pt Pirie, so I am guessing there would be some lunkers further up the gulf at Pt Augusta. Would be awesome if you could pin a good size kingfish up there, definitely the place to try. Don't hear many fishing reports from Pt Augusta, but I hope you have a good trip anyway mate.
  11. Haven't had much time to fish lately with work and helping my Grandma out, she has not been well. Warren Reservoir is full to the brim with water, but the fish are holding in the deeper water where it is warmer, very hard to catch. Wynn Vale Dam has occasional mid sized carp, but no catfish since the weather cooled right down. Also been learning how to catch trout up the Torrens Gorge last couple of weekends, no luck yet, but really enjoying my time up there. Hope to get stretched on some mud mullies at Springbank tomorrow arvo, fingers crossed. Back to the salt next weekend methinks.
  12. The Warren Reservoir is a big fat pain in the bum..... No carp, but plenty of redfin full of juvenile Murray Cod, the reddies must think it is Christmas. Tried to catch trout up the Torrens Gorge, again only small redfin....carp further downstream near Dernancourt. Springbank is firing again, can be hit or miss, take a variety of baits. And the catfish are hibernating up at Wynn Vale Dam, but carp are still biting on the tigers. Might fish the salt on Saturday.......
  13. Quantum Smoke SL15PTI or SL25PTI. Under 7.5oz for the 25, 9 b/b and drag as smooth as high end reels, but under $200. And they look stealth.

    Redfin lure

Thank yer mother for the rabbits.....yibbida, yibbida.

    Redfin lure

Spinners and small blades up the Warren where I need to cover distance with my casts. In rivers and streams, small HB vibes, and weedless rigged SP grubs and worms in the snaggy stuff. And Barney's suggestion of red wool is good advice, redfin go crazy for the colour red.
  16. I mostly fish shallow rivers, wetlands or lakes and find thigh waders more versatile. I still have a pair of Prox chest waders which are made of a tougher material than the nylon my Shakespeare thigh waters have. Been very happy with them, been in some sharp rocky situations and no leaks....touch wood...and good grippy and comfy boots. I would probably give myself a hernia trying to put on neoprenes, sure doesn't look pretty watching some folks trying either.
  17. Mother Nature can be a fickle bitch at times.... Stay safe mate. I have many relatives living along the coast in NSW, things have not been easy. My heart goes out to those who have lost their lives, homes, belongings, pets, not to mention the livestock you saw being swept away, and elsewhere. And I know this will have quite an impact on the fish stocks in your local streams and rivers, I really hope they recover quickly Adrian, fingers and toes crossed.
  18. Warren Reservoir has redfin, though you will need a permit from RecfishSA to fish it. Quite a few small fish to persevere with, but the bigger redfin still turn up. They love crawlers and glow worms up there, tiger worms also work, but not so well. Small spinners are dynamite, but small metal blades also work a treat, as do small vibes. You might need to move around at times to locate the fish, which often school up together, so if you catch one, you will often catch more til they move on. Very early morning or late arvo are best times, but they can still fire during the day. Also, if us
  19. Doesn't really bother me where my hardware is manufactured. What does concern me is where I purchase it, which 99/100, will be my local tackle shop. Having said that, my favourite bit of fishing kit would be either Cranka Crabs, or my Quantum Smoke PT25 reel. No idea where they are made, I just know they work.
  20. Reckon I might have to ask for some overtime at work, coz I see some imminent future expenditure occurring. One of the things that does stand out a bit was the relatively low cost of some of the new items coming out. Some good kit.
  21. Yeah, Murray Cod on cheese, apparently cheese attracts shrimp, as does soap, which also attracts yabbies, but never big ones always good bait sized yabbies. I admit it...I am a breast man.....chicken breasts or thigh strips get bream, salmon, mullet, flathead, trumpeter.... Also heard of carp getting pinned on grapes at Mawson Lakes recently, but you can also catch carp on dried dog food, especially Good-Os. Talking bout dried dog food, works dynamite in yabby nets, but also attracts catfish which get in and wreck the nets.
  22. This weather makes me want to hibernate.....
  23. They will never get rid of carp...... Or cane toads, or rabbits or foxes. Introducing a virus might make a dent in the populations of carp, but it won't get them all. Keep stocking as many native fish as possible, best solution I see to diminish carp numbers. After all, it wasn't carp that drastically affected cod stocks in the River Murray, it was overfishing from humans. Return the native fish to population levels that they were before carp arrived, and I see them balancing the equation and even out-competing carp for food.
  24. One of your best reports yet mate, just brilliant. Been thinking of a KI holiday for a while, you just motivated me to get there sooner. You have been having some success recently with those OSP Bent Minnows on bream, they look like they would cast well, cover more water if landbased. Also that salmon fishing looks and sounds insane, reminds me of some good sessions over Yorkes chasing schools of nice fish up and down the beach. Worth the travelling time to experience it.
