  1. Thanks

Hope you are well mate and keep catching some good size fish.

Been crook myself for too long but getting better and going for lazy bait fishing up the Warren Reservoir for good results.

Hopefully get back to chasing trout this weekend.

It will cast better and increase your catch rate.

It also makes it easier to unhook the fish for a better release.

Been doing it to my freshwater hardbodies and really wish I had started using single hooks years ago.

And you can change them back to trebles quickly and easily if you want.

Finally one of my regular rivers had dropped to a level that was safe for wading, it was still a little higher than I preferred. The water temperature was up to 11 degrees as well, much better than the six degrees that's it been on. Even though the trout were a little scarce it was good to get onto a couple of nice rainbows, my first for the season. Thanks for watching..
    cheers

I like redfin. Don't like Karen.

Redfin are pigs. Have caught 6" redfin on 10" scrubworms and they were hooked deep.

There is a Karen at Wynn Vale dam that I call the goose lady.

She likes to feed the ducks and geese right next to where we are fishing wherever we are.

Gets angry when the birds she is feeding get tangled up in our lines but hates it even more when we cuddle the ducks and safely remove the line and let them go.

I think she wants to cuddle the ducks too but when she tries to they bite her.

I put 200 worms in the garden to see if low denisty and a change of scene would help them fatten up - it did.

Thanks doobie, it was one of my better sessions in a river for the season that's for sure, as for my back I see the surgeon tomorrow about my hips & lower back. The L3, L4 & L5 discs are not in the best of condition.. so I'll just have to wait and see what he comes up with.. I do know both hips are supposed to be replaced, the back they were talking about removing the discs & inserting titanium rods in the spine.. I'm now sure I want to go through that at this stage..hopefully there's a better solution..
    cheers

Seeing as the trout season opened last Saturday & I haven't been able to go since it opened due to being laid up in bed with lower back problems I thought
I'd find a video of one of my better spin sessions last April..
    cheers

When I was a lad my dad kept the worms in an old copper, that use to be used for heating water, it was full of horse poop and table scraps, and had a couple of hessian sacks on the top, when ever we wanted worms, you just wet the sacks, the next day you lifted the sacks and there were hundred, between the sack and the dirt at the top, he swore by tiger worms.

Ahhh yeah - I’ve heard of copper strips being used to deter snails
The tin was supposed to offer a collection device so they would go in and stay in
but the results so far suggest im better off just burying hunks of pumpkin on their own
i haven’t checked it in a couple of days so I’ll have a look now and cross my fingers for a miracle…..

ok that’s worse than before - zero worms this time
theres plenty of worms in there so I’ll chuck it back without the tin

I should clarify - I often see individual reddies slurping and feeding on the surface at dusk - its the violent pack feeding I dont see so often

They're an effective deterrent and often fearless, when it comes to a lake they have campaigned hard, to keep anglers out of. Kind of like a swan in mating season - there is no way they can hurt you but they just keep on coming at ya

I have worked out a few strategies to repel male "Karens" but they arent PC to implement on the fairer sex😉

Yeah I dont often see the freshwater surface activity, like in the start of the vid. I mean I've seen it - Just not that often.

But the other day, I was scouting a suburban lake. (Finding no fishing signs was hard to take). But I figured I'd take a stroll anyway. I didnt know if it had anything in it other than the carp I was spotting - then the place just starts boiling in the middle of a sunny afternoon.

I did have a rod in the car but the joint had a few potential local "Karens" lurking around- so I just had to walk away and leave them boiling.

Something triggered a few separate schools to go on the hunt around the lake at the same time - Plenty of unlucky guppies skimming across the water that arvo.

Will be a trophy fish fishery if my sources are correct  can't wait for this to open up. Living only 5mins away makes it an awesome place to kill some time after work!
