  1. Any info as to why they do that or anything? Personally havent heard much bad about stradics.... although i dont have the newest model
  2. Hey mate, i have one, should do the job perfectly, caught snapper to 7kg on it no dramas, and i use it spinning for salmon aswell
  3. Lofty... been told they start to move when the sleepy lizards and snakes do... unsure on how much truth is in it
  4. No particular goal or anything but ill be chasing mullies in the surf and also in the coorong, and callop on lures in the murray
  5. Bound to be quite a few surf fisho's investing in these surely! My eyes definately lit up reading that
  6. Shot down to salt creek on saturday just passed and got 12 salmon, i would say above average size for down there too! Only did a day fish and went home after 4hrs approx fishing Seaweed was an issue until the tide started moving
  7. I use a wilson bluesteel 8 and a half foot 4-8kg rod paired with a 4000 stradic, love the action of the rod, belts 40g lures a mile and is nice and light.... i have baitfished and used it for LB squid too... great allrounder in my opinion

    In or out?

Im always rigging salmon slabs with hook point facing out of the flesh, mainly because its easier to have the hook sitting proud (makes sense in my mind anyway) Quite consistantly have solid hookups on gummies, rays, mullies, even other salmon
  9. Both have a good rep, personally I'd go a trion out of them two. But as Southie said the salty fighter series are good value for money!
  10. I use a 6'10 2-4kg flick stick rapala... seems to work just fine, doubles as a coorong mullie rod and a hardbody callop rod too, versatile stick!
  11. The fishing industry is one of the worst for marking up products in my opinion! But then again who's the sucker? I still pay what they're asking 😂
  12. I can't see the attatchment! Very keen to know what price though!
  13. Shimano sienna 1000 size reels are on sale at tackleworld adelaide metro $30, the old model but plenty swear by them! Pretty good value imo, personally use a stradic but got friends who land the same coorong mullies as me on them....
  14. Coorong 70cm Mully, 6lb line, on plastic 😊
  15. Great footage! Well done fellas
  16. G'day plankton, just a quick heads up on how the weekend went..... seaweed everywhere! Caught the one shark, let him fight another day, the reel casted very smoothly once dialed in, I'll admit it requires an educated thumb though compared to others, all in all pretty happy with its performance hauling in weed monsters! Haha
  17. I'd have to disagree with you on the torium there plankton, held one under quite a bit of fresh pressie and it was silky smooth and felt solid I have 3 abu 7000's for the surf and they have stood up to the crap that I've given them over the last 6 or 7 years... the torium will replace one, I'll give it a go this weekend and see how it goes, I'm sure it's capable of being nice and smooth and also handling anything im likely to encounter (big rays, bronzies, gummies, salmon, mullies, snapper etc.) Maybe I'll write up a bit of a review after say 6 months of use 😊 Just had a quick
  18. Hmmm that's a shame, also on ebay there is one called the seriola first light fishing rod, looks to have a nice action, otherwise i think I'll try to get a second hand sabre, Pacific composite or shimano tiralejo
  19. They certainly look a nice reel plankton! I just remembered something i might have quizzed you on a while ago, what was that overhead surf rod from ebay that i think yourself and Cal rated highly?
  20. The 16hg torium looks the goods to me, compact and holds plenty of 50lb braid, I agree overkill for snapper, and i do have other combos that are more specifically suited, but with the chance of Sampsons at some new drops for me I'd rather the re-assurance Hmmm thumbing the spool could be an intersting experience then if i put my back into a cast! Haha Funnily enough i have just got a penn squall also, 30ld model, however i am a bit nervous with it only having 6kg of drag pressure max? Whats the drag rating on the 25n plankton? And by sharks i mean nothing too serious, gummies, s
  21. Gday, anyone on here use a shimano torium? Thinkinh about getting the latest model, whats the pro's/ cons and what not? Any good at casting? I'm looking at it for tuna/ sharks/ snapper.... but also maybe for surf fishing too.... not even sure if such a diverse reel exists!
  22. As the title suggests, just purchased a 15kg overhead roller tip rod for tuna and sharks, looking to get a reliable reel at a budget price if there is such a thing I have my eye on the fin nor biscayne in the 20 size, or the penn squall, I think I'm going to go with 50lb braid for line with a topshot of mono Any further suggestions from more experienced game fishos? Also coild be open to looking at second hand reels too, cheers
  23. Has anyone sanded their rod grips to suit their needs? Just wondering if it's a viable option to make grips a bit smaller?
