  1. Never a problem Plankton! Haha I'll admit I just keep adding to the collection
  2. They look like they have a nice taper on them! I had a look, you can return them within 14 days if the buyer changes their mind
  3. Salt creek is the location 95% of its use will be! Yeah it sucks there isn't heaps of options here in Aus, maybe custom is the way to go?
  4. Gday all, just wondering what people use as overhead surf rods? I've used 5120's but just wondering if there's other, more modern options for heavy surf? Maybe 12 ft models too? It seems spin rods dominate the market these days
  5. Maybe the daiwa presso trout? Mind you I have never held one, but it could be the go only being around the $100 mark and a nice light rod MiSCrEANT- you wouldn't happen to have a website or be able I point me in the direction of looking at the Japanese rods they have out there?
  6. So comfortable in the hand too Shorejigger! Being a shimano person I might have a soft spot for it too haha
  7. Very tempted but not sold yet! Haha Toss up between gen black and a shimano 3zero, both seem like great rods!
  8. Gen black seems the way to go for me I think! As for reels, I'm quite happy with the Stradic range but open to any suggestions? I'll be looking at running 10lb braid with it
  9. G'day mate, bait fishing?? If so then I have two combos that I love (I fish yorkes for snapper in mainly 20-30m) First one Is a shimano terez 15-30lb rod, great sensitivity, very powerful blanks! Pulled some monster Rays with it, this has a shimano Stradic 6000fj model attached wih 30ln braid, does the job nicely! The other one is a sil star crystal blue powertip, another great rod for bait fishing, plenty of power down low, this gets matched with an abu 7000 and 30lb braid These are both pretty heavy combos for the Reds but I find we don't get dusted up on structure no where near as mu
  10. Great minds think alike shore jigger! Shimano Stradic 3000ci4 is intended to go with it! How do you reckon a 20lb leader would go with the micro guides casting wise? Intending on using it for coorong mulloway on plastics, I'm leaning towards the gen black at the moment but I do get pretty picky with my gear at times I also picked up a shimano 3zero rod, feels real comfy in the hand, as does the Shimano nano xt... Tossing up between these three now, also considering a pfleuger trion as a cheaper option, open to suggestions too 😊
  11. Gday all, went for a bit of a look today to suss out a new rod, picked up the daiwa generation black rods today and they feel great! Anyone have any feedback on them? P.s I'm a shimano person but these rods feel A1 for the price they are asking!
  12. Cheers for that cal! Was wondering if that'd work, I'll definately give that a crack
  13. They are still Fuji components on them, had another look after work, it seems I can eliminate this if I wrench it up really really tight! But unsure if I'm meant to be doing it up so tight as it might wear the thread I reckon :/
  14. Can I ask What reel you are running with yours Raider?
  15. G'day all, just wondering if anyone has had any trouble with the sensor surf range from daiwa regarding the reel seat allowing movement of the reel from side to side? I've tried three different reels and same result? Although none of the reels I tried were daiwa... Any help would be appreciated, cheers
  16. G'day all, has anyone got or used the Abu Garcia Vanguard line of rods? I'm usually a shimano person but Sneakyfisho has these on there for $150 at the moment, very tempting
  17. I have the head strap attachment and the extension pole, find myself using these two more so than any others
  18. Heading to Melbourne this weekend to watch the footy, up the cats! Anyway, anyone know of any big tackle stores around there worth a look at? Might have time for a look, cheers
  19. Sounds like I already have the gear to cover it! Minus the baitrunner style reel I use a rapala x-rap xtreme 2-4kg rod matched with a 2500 size stradic with 6lb braid for all my light applications (bait and lure) And my heavier type rod has a 4000 stradic with 20lb braid on a 6-8kg catana rod.... From what you guys are saying I should be fine using these combos anyway? I really have no clue fishing for mullies from the boat so I'm all ears haha
  20. G'day all, always loved chasing mullies in the surf! But never had a real crack by boat, any recommendations on what an ideal combo would be? Mainly live baiting, sometimes plastics It will almost be exclusively used in the coorong, sometimes glenelg river too, cheers I was thinking something like a small baitrunner with 12-15lb braid should be ample inside coorong? Not sure on rod selection yet
  21. Silstar crystal blue or crystal pro can't go wrong
  22. Cheers fellas! Next time I'll bring the go pro I think
  23. A bit late for a report but here we go... On the Sunday of the long weekend myself and a few mates decided to give the SS banga a run (southies old tinny that I took off his hands) We sat at the mouth of the coorong for the arvo just messing about, I was throwing plastics getting salmon trout every two to three casts and surprisingly they weren't interested in the bait on offer which was bungum worms. I decided to send out a live st on my mates cheap spare rod, boy did I wish I brought my snapper gear! I got smoked by what felt like a decent mully! Long story short I got 5 hits on
  24. Silstar rods are brilliant for the price! Use crystal blue series for snapper, along with my terez, good piece of kit! They have good looking 2-4kg rods too, mates have had them for years and they never seem to have any issues whatsoever, seen them catch coorong mullies on them no worries, also rugger snapper to 55cm Never used the lighter models myself though
  25. Sufix 832 does it for me, very smooth! Hasn't let me down yet I also use tuffline, not too bad either, I'd rather the sufix 832 though
