  1. The mullies are around already! Just not in big numbers I've heard it's been good at 42 lately, so I went last night after work and got this one, went 23lb, 100cm long, I was chuffed!!
  2. I think ill give Salt Creek a go Tuesday arvo through to Wednesday morning, hopefully after the blow there are a few fish about! its going to be a near full moon, is it a good or bad thing? I get mixed responses on this all the time!
  3. Ok this is giving me a better insight as to the Mulloway behaviour and where i can find them on bigger tides too... find the water with structure that has a 'lee' side to it right? e.g gutter edges/lee side of rocks? Is anyone braving the weather this weekend to have a fish?
  4. And Mulloway just happen to be my target species I wouldn't complain getting even a 76cm mully! Thanks for that lofty! That's a great fish! I'm still yet to get one over 20lb haha, one day I hope to crack a 50pounder :f
  5. Cheers Ausea! So if I don't catch I can blame you?
  6. Had good success on squidgy flickbaits, as already mentioned.... in natural coloursalso the Berkley Nemesis, ive found these to be really good also!
  7. Hey guys, just curious on if there are any reasonable success stories from people fishing a dodge tide in the surf? surely it doesn't make catching fish impossible right? haha I personally haven't fished one yet but considering doing it this weekend, any feedback would be great
  8. I like using brined wa pillies, I just feel like they work for me, always caught fish on them the main purpose of salting or brining them is to do exactly what you said though (harden the flesh so they stay on better) you may get people saying fresh is best, but honestly I don't think this applies too much when using pillies! Other baits I try to use as fresh as possible but I'm never too worried with pilchards.... Basically comes down to personal preference I think!
  9. All Mono I use is from the Platypus range, check them out, never seem to fail me!
  10. In the boat you cant beat the headshakes of a big red thrashing around IMO!!Land based salmon on metals is so much fun! but then again mulloway and the challenge they pose! such a good feeling landing one of the chrome beasts!
  11. cheers for that Steve, theres plenty of good videos on youtube that have given me a fairly clear idea of how its done and what not, there just isn't too much info given from an SA perspective, its all interstate! thanks for giving an idea of location though
  12. yeah they are a brilliant bait! I had an old fella give me a couple after he finished his fishing session and the work a treat! I don't usually go to Moana but I might do a special trip one day, thanks for the help though mate happy fishing!!
  13. Ok, cheers for the info Gelboy! I wonder if they are available on beaches that I regularly fish? (waitpinga, Salt creek, wallaroo) I guess no harm in trying right?
  14. thanks CFR, much appreciated! you wouldn't happen to know if there is there any country beaches that hold them too?
  15. g'day everyone, since its freezing and blowing a gale outside and I cant go fishing I thought id ask if anyone on here knows any beaches in South Aus that hold beach worms? they are a gun bait interstate but I have no idea where to get them here?Any info would be appreciated, cheers
  16. Is this a regular thing around fowlers? finding big schools within casting range? thinking of going to Yalata in Jan next year!
  17. Hey guys (and girls)... I have the bye in football today and im jumping at the opportunity to go fishing! (footy season restricts me a bit) but now I don't know which way to go! im stuck in two mindsIm thinking either waitpinga/ parsons, Goolwa beach or the 42 mile at salt creekJust wondering if anyone has any in depth recent reports from any of these areas? im stuck on where to go as they are all great locations
  18. I'd go! You never know, that change in air pressure from the storm could turn on the hottest fishing! It could also work the other way but I'd be very confident in landing a snapper during this!
  19. Sounds good to me! But what size rod to match it with? Will a 10-15kg sick do? And bob would I be putting mono on the tld, if so, what pound/how much? They both sound like good combos, but I like that overheads have a roller tip, but then again I can chuck lures at schools if need be with a threadline! Ahhhhh decisions, decisions haha
  20. I've got a terez! But it's only a15-30lb size, brilliant on snapper! They are amazing sticks! But i thought as I'm not going to be chatting them a whole lot (first time next week) that i could go a decent reel, Say a tekota/ torium? And match it with a rod in the 100 dollar range? Or is that just playing with fire?
  21. Hey guys, I've just been picking my brain for a while thinking about a setup that will do the job on kings/tuna and the like... Anyone have any suggestions of one that might be good without such a hefty price tag?
