  1. wow mate, landbased or on a boat?
  2. how big roughly Jimbo? Still trying for the mullies in the onk! No luck yet! ahah
  3. Went out fishing the ONK around Perry's bend last night, thought I'd say thanks to Joe from Got One South Road for giving me the hot tips. The big tide produced a fish per cast all afternoon on the bait... mostly small Bream but a couple of decent ones in there on a cheap little hard body lure, my first attempt at lure fishing at the Onk too, so well stoked. A couple of small salmon trout jumped on the lure too, not much larger than the lure itself
  4. Hey guys, I tried my hand at lure fishing for the first time today. Didn't have much luck for most of the day... hooked a turtle but then landed my first ever fish on a lure! A baby redfin!Have another day off tomorrow so I'm gonna go northern hills rather than southern this time. I was absolutely stoked at the time!
  5. I got these guys tonight. I think they're my biggest. Couldn't get a measurement on them though... One of the smaller ones put up a hell of a fight! The big one just felt like a tank.
  6. Had no luck at all down near Hackney. Hooked a poor turtle and a water fowl. Jumped down to the old faithful zoo and had two large hookups straight after the other. A bloke was helping me net the first one when my second line took off. Great fun on 6lb line. Still using size 12 covert muggas and incizors. These are great fun for building up my skills. I must stress the gratitude I have for all the members on here and the folks at Fisherman's Paradise helping me on my way to some fun fishing action. Having a ball!Measures 68 and 70 centimetres. Not sure about weight? Any estimates?
  7. G'day there. Had some REAL fun tonight on the Torrens. Sat down for about 15 minutes and felt my rod with 2 bits of corn on the end of a size 12 'covert stealth' hook go crazy. The drag wound out and the fish took me 50-60 metres down the shore. Luckily I was able to lead him back to the most shallow bank I could find but I'd left the net at home. I found a set of needle nose pliers and after some close calls managed to grab his bottom lip and drag him out. Unfortunately his whole bottom lip ripped off just as I pulled him onto the grass. Twas a close call indeed. I think he's my biggest fish.
  8. Haha thanks mate! The swan won the battle. It hissed at me when it couldn't eat my whiting nuts. I just thought the carp was a disgusting diseased fish until I remembered reading about people pulling these 'mirror carp' out of the river.
  9. Well then, it's been a good week of fishing ever since I dropped my line weight and changed my hooks. I've been trying different things with Burley and today I reckon I finally hit the spot. Whiting nuts and creamed corn for burley, corn/bread with some aniseed for bait, no weight/ small split shot, or a running sinker, and the fish came one after another!I'm stoked something's finally working for me :)http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/5964/20130305232524.jpghttp://img689.imageshack.us/img689/3706/20130305193231.jpghttp://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/832/20130304212726.jpg/Catfish was releas
