Hi all,i'm gonna try snapper on soft plastics soon, in both metro waters and the west side of the yorke peninsular.whats a good soft plastic (size/type etc) to use on snapper?if its already been asked just direct me to the link.thanks.

they're a bit quiet at the moment due to the cold weather.any of the local beaches should be allright, but........the weather will have a fair bit to say about that.you'll probably also get some salmon trout from the beaches, if you're beach or jetty fishing.look for the more 'calmer' beaches, that have nice big sandy bottoms and weedy areas nearby.they dont have to be very deep areas (between 2 to 6 feet deep).good baits are;cockles, prawns/nippers, worms.try small beach rods with 8 to 12 lb line, small star sinkers if its nice and calm, medium star sinkers if its rougher/windy, size 6 to 4 (

bream.either bait or lures.good fighters, and very cunning.anything else is a bonus. salmon trout just annoy me, but they are good when nothing else is around.
-
either a strike pro pigmy, or bushy's fatty.but that's just coz I like chasing bream.

anyone here use small crabs on hooks to catch bream?if so, whats a good size crab/hook combo?
-
try some 40mm (or there abouts) mid depth diving minnows or similar, with a medium speed retrieval.if they bite but not hook up, let it sit for 1 second, and start again.but this may not work out every day.so far i've had god success with orange sides and a dark top, or a pale clear side with a green top colour range.the strike pro bream tour 4gram hard bodies seem ok.make sure they have good trebles.one fish bent a hook, another fish bent another hook (on a cheap lure).the lure colour was perfect, but it had cheap trebles.the only problem with the 40mm hardbodies is that the fish occasionally

good vid alex.when's your next vid?I was there this weekend, Saturday & sunday arvo'sthe salmon were going crazy. In just over 1 hr I had caught my limit on Saturday, and they were all over 30cm, with many almost 35cm. it was good fun on light tackle. never seen it quite like that, but I rarely get to the jetties much.was using hard body lures.they'll be tea for the parent this week.
