  1. I got a 662 Aird combo the othr week 1-3kg and 2000 size reel. I love the thing. Very smooth and easy for throwing lures
  2. Hey guys, Decided I need a rod to live in my car - anyone got suggestions for a cheap general purpose travel rod? A combo will be plus but can always buy the reel by itself as well. Also looking at trying to buy my stuff online (squid jigs, lures etc) anyone got recommendations for online sellers?
  3. I had a similar question earlier this year - I ended up with a Shimano Catana and Sienna combo from tackle world for around $90. I think the rod is a bit heavier 3-5kg i think and the reel is 2500 but came spooled with powerpro braid as well. I love the thing and hope to go targetting flatties this year myself
  4. Awesome. I got the headstrap as well today - need to find myself a pole
  5. Got myself a GoPro today (kicking myself for not getting it duty free on my cruise last week). What accessories do people have and use? I got a few today including the handle bar attachment which I screwed on to my rod (felt scary casting it)
  6. Went camping last night at Rapid's, firs time salmon fishing and I caught two fairly much at the same time. One on a gillies metal lure and the second on pillies. Werent the biggert fish but im happy for a first timer
  7. One of my best is this snook caught off of Somerton last November
  8. Let me start with the usual the best catch of my life is my Mrs... but now seriously. A few years back was fishing and crabbing Wallaroo Jetty and was about to pack up the kit and head back to our cabin when a fiddler ray got pulled up in our Crab net. The thing was massive.
  9. Hi guys going over to Yorkes over easter for a few days, staying at Port Clinton. Anyone got ideas of what fish I'll be able to catch and what kind of Rigs I'd need to make before I head over? Will hopefully go crab raking as well over there (our third year going)
  10. Ok awesome and thanks :)I've only been on he pontoons at the boat ramp so haven't really been casting - more releasing and letting it slowly slink but obviously I need lighter jig heads.I got some Berkeley SP's last week in pumpkinseed which are fairly small too so im hoping the small lure will help to. The idea is to go to other places eventually just decided ive changed to much with the way i fish so I need ot find a sure spot to get my first hook up on the plastics
  11. Hi guys, if you've seen my past posts you'd see im new to soft plastics, and baitcasters and that ive been trying on the Onk. This morning I went to the O'sullivans boat ramp as I thought id have a better chance at seeing what I was doing. I could see the fish looking at my lure but they just didn't go near it so im thinking I might need to change things a bit - does anyone have any good recommendations for lures and jig heads? My setup is below5.8ft rodRovex Oberon BC spooled with 4lb mono and a 10lb leader (im aware the mainline might be a bit too light)Zman grubz 2.5' in motoroil and jig hea
  12. I'm hopefully heading down along the Onk tomorrow, very determined to get the softies working for me as I haven't caught anything on plastics yet. I have the the Zman grubz in motor oil so hopefully they work for me.
