Thanks for the input guys. Does anyone know what brands of braid to keep away from? Anyone had any bad experiences?

Can anyone tell me which brands of braided line to keep away from? Ive bought a few different ones and one of them keeps breaking way under its recommended breaking strain but I cant remember which one it is. A mate is having similar problems and I wondered if anyone else has. I have used fireline and gorilla braid in the past and they've been great but Im having problems finding 1000yd spools of them. Seen so much on the market lately but Im wary of buying then finding out its rubbish.

I cant remember how far out we were but it was when they were out chasing schools for the farms and stuff. Roughly 18 months ago.

Ive already got a 24 kg rig and we dont just chase the small ones. Caught some off tassie between 80 - 100 kg mark...mate got a 76 kg off lincoln

Sounds fair. What weight leader would you recommend?

Hi guys. I recently was given a 65 full roller game rod and reel and need to get some line for it but am unsure what the best weight and type to use on it. Am mainly going to use it for chasing big tuna. One mate said i should spool the reel with 120 lb braid but never run braid that big before. Any thoughts?? also what would be a good weight leader?

picked up a Bond LD9000

Ok...I picked up a big overhead without a level wind and we are going to port Augusta to have another crack at the kingies week after next so I'll see how I go. Have to hook one before I'll know how getting the line back on goes. I have it spooled with 800m of 120lb braid.

Ok. Thanks for that fellas. So whats the trick with actually getting the line back on the spool evenly? Dont spose any one has a video of such a thing ?

I just got myself a new shark rod and want to get a new reeal to suit it but Im finding that 99.9% of the reels that are suited to it dont have a level wind. All of my fishing with overhead reels has all been done with level wind reels and Im wondering how hard it is to learn to get the line on evenly without a level wind? I have been using a shimano beastmaster 24kg with a big DAM reel spooled with 1000 yds of 50lb braid quite succesfully for years but the DAM has a level wind on it.
