  1. Hey mate awesome report.. im heading over next weekend, where was the beach you caught the salmon? Cheers!
  2. only problem i see for bottom bashers, is there all high speed?
  3. I have 3 mag-sealed daiwas and I personally love them! have never had an issue with any of them..
  4. awesome stuff mate, have a good trip!! I might be going marlin fishing out of Bermagui in 2weeks aswell (if I got enough time).. so hopefully we all do alright ahah.
  5. My suggestion be; what ever rod you get, make sure its got long rear butt (sits in the rod holders nice) and that it has a slow, parabolic action.. Brand, quality, style etc is all up to you, cheers.
  6. crab cakes look shit hot mate, well done.
  7. Hey mate just saw this thread now, I bought the saltist extreme when they first came out, went for the pe2-4 stick, and its really nice... has a great medium action, silky smooth guides and find it balances well with my saltiga 4000 reel. All personal I guess. cheers.
  8. I just buy bulk packets of pillies and cockles, then separate them into little zip lock bags (enough for a days fishing) and leave the rest in my chest freezer... now I only throw away a handful each time im on the water.. bait is getting expensive these days!
  9. there is a lot more artificial grounds than people think, i can assure you those that catch consistent big reds don't come from the Glenelg tyre reef LOL.
  10. yeah nice boys, il wait until it warms up and there sitting on the surface.. cheers
  11. nice work mate... do you think a bread fly, tied to some light fluro would work on spin gear?? wouldn't mind getting my trout outfit out and chasing some mudmarlin.
  12. Hi Guys, For who ever is interested... The new 2015 Daiwa Luvias has now been released (see link below).. seems few new features the major being; Air-rotor, ATD "automatic tournament drag" and bearing in its main shaft. Looks the goods I recon. http://daiwafishing.com.au/products/luvias/ Cheers.
  13. Yes, the Daiwa TD Commander comes with AGS system, but they retail for $450, not $50?? unless that way a typo mate... it will take a few years before the AGS gets trickled down to the cheaper stuff.. its cutting edge technology and not cheap to produce, so I think it will be exclusive for while.. could be wrong but.. The new caldia B reel look good too! And they are also releasing a new 2015 Luvias soon too interesting times..
  14. its got the AGS (air guide system), a lot of money, development goes into those graphite guides.. the frames and everything are carbon/graphite so you feel every little bump, twitch through the rod. Plus it also saves more weight again of titanium frames. Its not for everyone, but does have its place for people who want / can afford cutting edge lure rods... I certainly wouldn't buy one, seems to delicate for me! but I do appreciate it for what it is.
  15. Ive got the daiwa gen black (itchy twitchy 1.5-3kg) and its a great rod for flick lures. Sensitive tip, and enough grunt down low to stop any bream.
  16. I lost a shimano rod and shimano baitrunner of the back of a paddle boat in the torrens lake about 6-7 years ago... me and a mate hired two paddle boats, so we could fish different areas chasing carp! Anyway paddling along and I hear a "ploomp" look back and my rods gone!! Was an expensive day for a youngster ahaha.
  17. Tinker, I started off as a shimano man myself but over the years have slowly jumped ship and now 80-90% of my fishing gear is daiwa.. I personally believe the rods are of better quality and so are the reels (in the top end), shimano do make fantastic reels towards the lower end though. But the old Holden VS Ford thing. Really don't want to start a debate ahah.
  18. yeah daiwa surf rods are great, ive got the seabass and sensor surf and there both really good sticks! the seabass SB 106M is really hard to beat from a value point of view. Light enough to have some fun, but strong enough to whack out some decent metals.
  19. Dream setup; Daiwa sensor surf IZM 102S, Daiwa Morethan 3012H, Daiwa Saltiga Surf 15lb braid.. My setup; Daiwa Seabass SB 96ML, Daiwa SOL II 2508, Daiwa Saltiga Surf 15lb braid. Can spit out light lures (15-30gm) a mile.
  20. For anyone who was interested, I went and had a play with a few different rods this past week and last night ended up getting the Daiwa Catalina Bayjigger. It felt amazing in the hand and it has a really nice smooth, parabolic action and was light enough for small whiting, snook, squid etc. and enough grunt down low to fish in some current / bigger lead and for bigger KGW... It has all the nice fruit, Fuji tangle free SIC guides, deluxe reel seat etc and comes with a sweet bag too! If your in the same boat as I was, go have a look. Cheers.
  21. how did you fellas go over the weekend?? i tried half a dozen spots with no luck, ended up coming closer and catching a few XO sized squid... also saw plenty of dolphins smashing a school of either small ST's or garfish. Still another great day out on the water, was pretty choppy in the morning but flat end right off around 10:30am.
  22. heading out tomorrow morning from outer harbour, going to chase some snapps and whiting!
