  1. Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa The salmon on the surf beaches are hit and miss at the moment. There have been a few King George whiting reported in Waterloo Bay. Sheringa has seen Tommies, Whiting, Mullet and a few nice flathead caught by shore based bait anglers. Coffin Bay Big snook, Tommies and salmon trout are appearing in Coffin bay. There is also a few flathead, garfish and squid inside the bay. Soft plastics are accounting for most of the flathead. Out on the reefs, the Blue Morwong and Nannygai continue to keep anglers busy. There are boaties returning good reports on King George Whiting, and Squid from within Anxious bay.   3. A reminder that the Snapper season is now closed until midday the 15th of December. Any snapper accidentally caught while targeting other species must be returned to the water immediately. Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa Try the Elliston jetty for some decent sized Squid, and plenty of Tommies. Almonta / Gunyah Beach Better salmon catches when berley was used as salmon schools were not prevalent. Most fish are in small schools or loners hanging around the deeper gutters. Coffin Bay / Farm Beach King George Whiting are being caught by boaties fishing around the Farm Beach area. Silver Trevally are keeping anglers amused when using light gear. Best catch results are coming from anglers fishing early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Some big Australian Salmon are being caught along Mount Camel beach, with some fish up around the five kilogram mark. First Beach at Sheringa has seen anglers returning good results on Tommies, King George Whiting, Silver Trevally, and Yelloweye Mullet. Elliston Big tommies came from the jetty at night, while during the day squid, trevally and a few whiting were caught. Almonta / Gunyah Beach Australian Salmon are firing from the beach, with best results returned to anglers using metal lures. These fish are averaging 3.5Kg at the moment and reaching up to 5kg, so make sure you have some quality gear, especially trebles on those lures.   9. The Salmon Championship in Elliston has finished!The final Fortnightly prize was won by Shaun McCarrick from Whyalla. The mystery weight was 2.875kg and Shaun's Salmon weighed 2.930kg and was caught at Talia. The final fortnight saw a flurry of weigh ins(92), with most of the salmon being caught at Mt Camel and Sheringa with a few fish over 4kg. The overall competition winners will be announced on the 4th of September at 7pm at the Elliston Hotel! Even though there weren’t any big schools to be seen, there were still a few nice fish in the surf. Almonta / Gunyah Beach Salmon have still been hard to find. Beach fisherman have found that brined pichards thrown in the gutters and Farm Beach A few quality whiting have been caught in deeper water out from Farm Beach. Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa ASUTRALIAN SALMON FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP Fortnight 4 Prize: Won by Troy Brock from Cadell S.A Most of the fish were weighed in from Locks Well this fortnight with only couple weighing in over 4kg. There were 88 fish weighed in over the last 2 weeks, so even the crazy weather didn't scare many off! The mystery weight was 1.926kg and Troy's Salmon caught from Locks Well weighed in at a very close 1.930kg!!! We have had a total of 338 weigh-ins so far this year, with 9 over 4kg.   13. Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa For anglers chasing Australian Salmon some days were better than others, with rough weather being a problem. Some decent fish were landed, however size was not consistent with Salmon weighing anywhere from 500grams to around 5 kilograms. The bigger fish were caught on pilchards with a few biggies being caught on metal lures. No other reports came from the area due to poor fishing conditions. Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa The first week of the Elliston Salmon competition has produced plenty of interest towards the township and surrounding areas. Rod Elson from Arno bay has collected the first ‘mystery weight’ prize, with his salmon weighing in at 0.74kg, with the mystery weight being 0.561kgs.   19. Elliston Shore based anglers found a few whiting from Waterloo and Anxious Bay beaches. Large squid and tommies bit off the jetty after dark for those who braved the cold. Sheringa Whiting, Salmon, Mullet, Tommies and Flathead have all been reported with the recent calm conditions. The beaches have been fairly flat since the big swells last week, but the gutters and holes are forming again, so the fishing should improve this week. Almonta / Gunyah Beach No report received this week, but we know a few anglers headed down there on the weekend to take advantage of the nice weather.

Almonta / Gunyah Beach Salmon averaging 1 to 2kg were in reasonable numbers with the odd 3 to 4kg fish as well.   23. The 2015 Riviera Port Lincoln Tuna Classic has been run and won. 18 Boats landed 324 Bluefin Tuna between them. Most anglers caught fish on Saturday, but Sunday proved a lot harder to find the fish with only a few caught.   24. The first photo is of some Port Lincoln Anglers Club members who fished in the PIRTEK challenge a couple of weeks ago. The Port Lincoln guys did well getting a couple of division wins, a second and a third. Back left to right is Wayne Paterson, Heath Ellis, Tim Doyle, in the front is Riley Peters.
