Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa The first week of the Elliston Salmon competition has produced plenty of interest towards the township and surrounding areas. Most Salmon caught came from Locks well and Talia beach with some big fish being weighed. Almonta / Gunyah Be
  2. METRO Plenty of good size mullet are coming from the Brighton jetty along with squid early morning. The other jetties should have a similar result as the mullet keep in the warmer waters around metro. Mullet and bream are coming out of West Lakes along with the odd schoolie. Port River has been great for the salmon trout as well as St Kilda. St Kilda also has bream in the channel. Whiting pods are north of the Black Pole out from Pt G

  6. METRO Snapper are showing up in the shipping channel now and again with the best area just pass the breakwater and 2-3 poles back from the farewell beacon. Whiting action has been hit and miss but the southern grounds have better consistency and bigger fish. Also try the reef out from footy park. Squid are still in good numbers with Semaphore, Largs, West Beach, Brighton and Marino being the best areas. Crabs are still around but are out in deeper water around the 18-20 feet mark. Salmon trout are in abundance in the river and outer harbor Be aware the seals are sometimes pinching the fis

Tristan pictured with what he most wanted to catch, a 35kg popper caught GT. (Guide Andy Smith on the right) Now for what was biting and where

  10. Elliston Shore based anglers found a few whiting from Waterloo and Anxious Bay beaches. Large squid and tommies bit off the jetty after dark for those who braved the cold. Sheringa Whiting, Salmon, Mullet, Tommies and Flathead have all been reported with the recent calm conditions. The beaches have been fairly flat since the big swells last week, but the gutters and holes are forming again, so the fishing should improve this week. Almonta / Gunyah Beach No report received this week, but we know a few anglers headed down there on the weekend to take advantage of the nice weather.

  15. Pictured is Joseph Perin with a nice handful of squid that he caught in local waters last weekend. Squid are a good option at the moment and make for excellent table fare and the leftovers make good baits for most other fish. Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa Smaller schools of Salmon up to 2Kg have been reported in the area. King George Whiting can be caught from the beach at Sheringa, but check the size as lots are just under the legal minimum.
