  3. Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa Salmon have been consistent on most beaches. A few whiting and sweep have been caught at first beach. Almonta / Gunyah Beach Salmon have still been hard to find. Beach fisherman have found that brined pichards thrown in the gutters and Farm Beach A few quality whiting have been caught in deeper water out from Farm Beach. In shallow, 99% of the fish have been undersized. Coffin Bay Only a few reports of legal sized whiting this week. Most have come from around the oyster leases with cockles being the best bait along wist muss
  4. METROThere are good numbers of whiting south of west beach along with plenty of squid. Several bag limits came from there last week. Semaphore and Largs has a sprinkle of whiting and a few squid out from Bower Road. Some small garfish showed up near Grange so it can't be too long before the bigger ones move in. Grange tyre reef has whiting just before the tide stops then they go off. Norma wreck has small whiting and there is some squid in the area. You can get some ni9ce whiting around the silt grounds at the moment but you have to work through the small ones to get a feed. Small garfish are

  7. These guys took the Dorsal Fin boat to Hughes last weekend and were stoked METRO Whiting catches around West Beach was slow in deep water but there was some nice fish caught in the patches in around the 3-3.5 metre mark. With slower tides this weekend things should pick up out deep. Grange and Semaphore was similar. Squid numbers are still quite good with good catches coming from east of black pole, Semaphore, Grange, West Beach and Brighton. There are a few also east of the farewell beacon in 10 metres of water. Silt grounds has plenty of whiting but size is an issue but if you pers

  10. METRO Whiting catches have improved along the coast with St kilda and north producing some nice fish. West beach and Grange have also picked up. Burley is the key (But not too much). The pilchard blocks and our crushed muscles have been selling well and has been the best burley for whiting and snapper. Snapper have been slow but there is some nice fish out wide of North Haven and the odd one coming from the shipping channel. The shipping channel does improve coming into August. Mullet are still on the beaches but is more south near Brighton. Crabs are still being caught out on the silt grounds

Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa ASUTRALIAN SALMON FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP Fortnight 4 Prize: Won by Troy Brock from Cadell S.A Most of the fish were weighed in from Locks Well this fortnight with only couple weighing in over 4kg. There were 88 fish weighed in over the last 2 weeks, so even the crazy weather didn't scare many off! The mystery weight was 1.926kg and Troy's Salmon caught from Locks Well weighed in at a very close 1.930kg!!! We have had a total of 338 weigh-ins so far this year, with 9 over 4kg. Almonta / Gunyah Beach Only a few r
  14. METRO Port River had a visitor on Saturday in the form of a Humped Back Whale (Maybe chasing the bloodworms). Fishing didn't slow down on Monday as you would expect. Good catches came in while the weather was still OK. Whiting numbers improved off West Beach and north of the black pole. Even after the blow squid numbers also improved. The group that hired the boat over the weekend got plenty of squid and some nice whiting. Snapper catches have been slow but next month should see an improvement. Port river is still holding some nice salmon trout mainly in the upper reaches but Sunday night seen

  17. Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa For anglers chasing Australian Salmon some days were better than others, with rough weather being a problem. Some decent fish were landed, however size was not consistent with Salmon weighing anywhere from 500grams to around 5 kilograms. The bigger fish were caught on pilchards with a few biggies being caught on metal lures. No other reports came from the area due to poor fishing conditions. Almonta / Gunyah Beach Very minimal reports this week, with a few anglers chasing Australian Salmon. Fish averaged around 2 kilograms, and
  18. METRO Not much action last weekend but the stormy weather will definitely stir up the whiting. My best spots to try will be Norma wreck, Semaphore reef, West Beach grounds like the bag ground, Grange tyre reef, definitely the silt grounds (They do bite hard in this area after a blow), Black pole. Salmon trout are biting well in the Port river along the north arm by the wrecks and around from the Garden island boat ramp (Turn right after coming out and head up just before the inlet creek before the wrecks). Not many have been fishing for the mulloway but the few that are are getting fish but th
  19. Hi Everybody, Here is this week's fishing report. Remember, if you have any photo's of that prized catch, just sent them to portlincoln@spotonfishing.com.au with a brief comment. Now for what was biting and where Elliston / Sheringa The Salmon Championship in Elliston has had it’s 3rd fortnightly mystery weight prize announced. Paul Elliot from Wudinna and Dave Billings from Port Lincoln share the prize, their salmon both weighed in at 2.985kg. Walker Rocks has King George Whiting and Tommies, Locks Well, Talia and most other beaches in the area have been producing large Australi
  20. METRO Port river has been doing well on the salmon trout. Best areas are right of the Garden Island ramp just before the north arm. Also near the wrecks at the north arm is producing some nice salmon trout, bream and the odd mulloway. Mullet have been scarce in the river but eventually they will have to come in around the creeks that lead off the main rivers. Heavy burleying is the key. Whiting catches have been steady but this weekend head between the Black Pole and St Kilda breakwater in the sand patches. If your keen and want to battle the elements then head to Brighton Jetty where the mull
  21. METRO Whiting have been biting very well with the best spots being St Kilda to Black Pole, Semaphore Reef, Grange and West Beach. Last weekend saw lots of bag limits come in along with some near bag limits especially at the Black Pole. Squid numbers are still there and some nice gar are still being caught out from Largs and inside the section bank. Port River action was good with a few mulloway in the lower reaches and salmon trout cruising around the north arm and through the channels towards St Kilda and outer harbor. Snapper are well worth a try in the shipping channel while the bloodworms

  24. 5 year old Alexis is pictured with a couple of big squid caught off the Port Neill jetty recently. Now for what was biting & where Elliston Good reports of decent Tommies from the jetty, with reasonable numbers of Garfish. Reports from Talia and Mount Camel Beach are of salmon mostly around 1 kg. Locks Well There are plenty of large Tommies, salmon trout and a few larger salmon around 3 kg. Sheringa Fishing on the first beach has been good with mixed bags of mullet, Tommies and salmon trout plus a few nice size whiting and flathead. When the swell has been down the cliff
  25. Metro St Kilda through to Black Pole has some nice whiting at the moment. Some nice bag limits came from the area. The whiting must be moving in ready for the annual bloodworm run. Salmon trout is still quite good with the main area being around the North Arm, south of the St Kilda breakwater and near the cutting. Some trout have also been caught in the channel. Whiting improved around West Beach and Glenelg as well as west of the silt grounds. Mullet catches are still coming from Brighton with some large fish in amongst them. Mulloway while slow are getting the odd one near the wrecks at nor
