  2. Most would know about this topic and most would have seen the article. Have you voted 'YES' or 'NO' to the call to ban sea nets in the Gulf of St Vincent? You can find the poll on the article page and also view the results. Port river has plenty of salmon trout from the North Arm through to the St Kilda breakwater. Some nice bream are being caught near the North
  5. Howdy all, over a quite time at University I started writing a few reports about some of the fishing trips I have recently done so here is a link to my reports, as it is easier than copying and pasting them all in. http://lachycross.wixsite.com/crossyscatches cheers members. http://lachycross.wixsite.com/ Here are a few pictures from some of my reports
  6. With all the ordinary weather we've been experienced, its been 6 weeks since i had wet a line. Finally the weather and tides cooperated and I managed a light tackle salmon session with a couple of mates, on today's low tide. Things were really quiet to start with, too quiet. Were they all gorged on bloodworms? Then uncannily........ literally as if one had pressed a button they were 'on' . There were surface bust-ups all around us and the three of us didn't quite know where to cast. Any direction, any lure was smashed. The fish were not of any spectacular size, curiously all
  7. So, I get home from work with some holidays booked and keen as to get away for some time to unwind with the only problem being where to go, tossed around hooking up the boat for a river trip but when in I walked in to the shed and seen the surf rods that haven't had a run in close on 8 months my mind was made up a over nighter to Goolwa . Thursday morning with last few items throwen in I hit the road at 6.30am. Pulling in to the beach car park around 8.00 am, I set about dropping my tyre pressures via the strawn's. It really drives me nuts seeing 4wd still running road pressures chewing up
  8. I hadn’t had a surf fishing trip for 5years, not since our last lads KI trip and before the young fella came along. The whole concept was beginning to feel like a nostalgic part of the past. The idea for a KI salmon trip this season was optimistically discussed but fruitlessly realised. Not quite, but almost out of sheer desperation, brought a lower Yorkes fallback plan. We had visited Yorkes numerous times but not for a few years, basing ourselves in the quaint Corney Point. This gives good access to the beaches of Berry Bay, Gleeson’s Landing, The Dust Hole, numerous rock fishing op

  10. hi guys i was recomended to use light gear when lure flicking for salmon at southport just wondering what weight/length it should be
  11. Seemed like a great idea at the the time. I jumped at the suggestion of heading out with a mate as the wind was looking to be minimal and after all, I am still yet to catch a salmon this season. Seriously, if we head to Waits they will all be surfing the waves at Morgans . . . a Sellicks trip will guarantee the fish are at Southport . . . if we then tried to chase them at Southport, they would head up to Moana and a couple of Goolwa Beach runs have proven unsuccessful also. Starting to think there is actually a mole in the schools, who's sole purpose is to keep a lookout for the Guru and war

The Daiwa combo is a great way to get started with salmon lure flicking or an excellent second setup to flick around while another rod is soaking a bait or for when your non fi

  20. Went out yesterday with a mate and his Mrs to try and hit up a salmon school locally. Well only a few slightly larger specimens but not what we were after. My mate and I both tried surf poppers, these have been suggested to me a few times now and yesterday had reports of people dragging in untouched bait with the popper slaying the salmon. Not the case with us. The only thing landed on the poppers were an few st's when my mate put a pillie tail on it kinda defeats the purpose. I managed a sand crab, not sure if I foul hooked it on the retrieve but was hoping the popper would actually dete
