  1. METRO Not much action last weekend but the stormy weather will definitely stir up the whiting. My best spots to try will be Norma wreck, Semaphore reef, West Beach grounds like the bag ground, Grange tyre reef, definitely the silt grounds (They do bite hard in this area after a blow), Black pole. Salmon trout are biting well in the Port river along the north arm by the wrecks and around from the Garden island boat ramp (Turn right after coming out and head up just before the inlet creek before the wrecks). Not many have been fishing for the mulloway but the few that are are getting fish but th
  2. METRO Port river has been doing well on the salmon trout. Best areas are right of the Garden Island ramp just before the north arm. Also near the wrecks at the north arm is producing some nice salmon trout, bream and the odd mulloway. Mullet have been scarce in the river but eventually they will have to come in around the creeks that lead off the main rivers. Heavy burleying is the key. Whiting catches have been steady but this weekend head between the Black Pole and St Kilda breakwater in the sand patches. If your keen and want to battle the elements then head to Brighton Jetty where the mull
  3. METRO Whiting have been biting very well with the best spots being St Kilda to Black Pole, Semaphore Reef, Grange and West Beach. Last weekend saw lots of bag limits come in along with some near bag limits especially at the Black Pole. Squid numbers are still there and some nice gar are still being caught out from Largs and inside the section bank. Port River action was good with a few mulloway in the lower reaches and salmon trout cruising around the north arm and through the channels towards St Kilda and outer harbor. Snapper are well worth a try in the shipping channel while the bloodworms
  4. Metro St Kilda through to Black Pole has some nice whiting at the moment. Some nice bag limits came from the area. The whiting must be moving in ready for the annual bloodworm run. Salmon trout is still quite good with the main area being around the North Arm, south of the St Kilda breakwater and near the cutting. Some trout have also been caught in the channel. Whiting improved around West Beach and Glenelg as well as west of the silt grounds. Mullet catches are still coming from Brighton with some large fish in amongst them. Mulloway while slow are getting the odd one near the wrecks at nor
  5. METRO Plenty of good size mullet are coming from the Brighton jetty along with squid early morning. The other jetties should have a similar result as the mullet keep in the warmer waters around metro. Grange tyre reef, the Bag ground and Norma wreck have some whiting with better catches coming from the southern grounds out from Glenelg and off Sellicks Beach. Mullet and bream are coming out of West Lakes along with the odd schoolie. Port River has been great for the salmon trout as well as St Kilda. St Kilda also has bream in the channel. Whiting pods are north of the Black Pole out from Pt G
  6. METRO Snapper are showing up in the shipping channel now and again with the best area just pass the breakwater and 2-3 poles back from the farewell beacon. Whiting action has been hit and miss but the southern grounds have better consistency and bigger fish. Also try the reef out from footy park. Squid are still in good numbers with Semaphore, Largs, West Beach, Brighton and Marino being the best areas. Crabs are still around but are out in deeper water around the 18-20 feet mark. Salmon trout are in abundance in the river and outer harbor Be aware the seals are sometimes pinching the fis

Everyone check out the Dorsal Fin website www.dorsalfin.com.au and make sure you also checkout and like the Dorsal Fin Facebook Page www.facebook.com/DorsalFinCavan METRO Some hits and misses last weekend with people prepared to move around got good hauls of whiting. Good fish are coming from West Beach down to Brighton with fish around the 38-40cm mark. Fish at least an hour before the turn for best results. Move around prior and mark where your
