  1. Hi there brains trust. For years I have wondered why pictures of big mulloway often show a pink area of bruising on the flanks. In contrast, I have never seen this on underwater footage of NSW/Qld mulloway taken by divers and spearos. I am really curious to see if anyone knows more. I even began to collect images to see if the bruising was limited to one side, or the other, and if it occurred only on largest fish. Early indications are it is mainly surf-caught, bigger fish, and often down the side toward the vent. See examples below, and the one with a yellow circle. The only t

  3. Metro Some nice squid have been coming from West Beach, Semaphore, Largs and east of the Black Pole. Whiting are being caught at Black Pole, Norma, Bower Road ground, Grange and bigger fish out from West Beach. Crabs are slowing but there is still a good feed to be had at the Silt grounds, Semaphore and Largs. Snapper are being caught around the shipping channel, near the John Robb, ballast ground, the Broadway and out from O'Sullivan's around the barge. Port river has plenty of salmon trout from the North Arm through to the St Kilda breakwater. Some nice bream are being caught near the North

  7. Mully that got me in the running for fish of the month, at local tackle shop, got beaten by 100 grams or so But cool all the same, getting it in the local rag. They gave me a heap of ice to keep fresh overnight & next day brought it back & got on 'Ken Brown's Coast Watch' TV show with it Was caught in Maroochy river at Bli Bli, live mullet, Daiwa rod,15lb Maxima mono on Shimano 4500 baitrunner
  8. Lots of anglers are gearing up for the Snapper ban which ends at 12noon on the 15th. Many of us are looking forward to heading out and landing a few big fish. I am hoping to get my first SA Snapper for Christmas. In the pictures, we have Ash Smith (not on a boat for a change) with a very nice Mulloway and Kate Peglidis with a nice Tuna. Hi everyone,I'm thinking of getting a few new packs of soft plastics for a variety of species and am currently looking at colours styles etc and thought I might start up a topic with everyone's recommendations for what plastic they've had success on for specific species, Salt and Fresh, Large and Small.E.g.
