Guest Butters
Hey luke, I use two rods which i use for my surf fishing aswell.. one is 4120 with a flueger lithium with 25lb braid and the other a 5120 with saltist 50 with 15kg mono...over the last season down tenny i managed a couple of small bronzies.. all caught on bottom baits too.. http://www.fishyorkepeninsula.com/images/attachments/Mz8bsuDp__tenny.JPG[/img]
bennyboy 0
G'day luke, fishing tennyson for sharks, only once have we come across a shark which may have been bigger than 4.5ft....and yes butters lost it!I just use my surf salmon gear for the sharks, seems to work fine and puts a nice bend in the rod...I'm also using a 4120, with anywhere between 15 and 30lb mono.I have a few spools to my surf reels so i can mix and match depending...30lb is a little heavy imo {SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif
luke_westlakes 4
thanks for that {SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif, by the way how far would you have your bait out for eagle rays???
lcstory 0
eagle's will take a bait real close to the shore, but always look for a gutter or drop off to put your bait in. if i'm fishing a beach with no or very small gutters i will cast out as far as i can but keep it on the sand for rays. when i was younger i used to do alot of ray fishing and i found the best bait to be squid. squid will aslo catch you sharks aswell. luke_westlakes 4
thanks, how much line do you reckon you would need?
lcstory 0
if your [u:j2nvpia1]only[/u:j2nvpia1] targeting ray's and small sharks i would use a full squid head or half the adverage body. make sure you have plenty of line, coz sometimes they will take off like a bat out of hell!!!.
