  1. I went on one of these GW charters earlier this year and i was surprised by how little blood and offal they used. Perhaps we were lucky and the sharks come around quite easy so there wasnt much of a need to burley much but i think they only used a couple of small buckets of offal. As for killing the sharks to be frank that is a stupid idea. People know the risks of swimming in the ocean and if you cannot accept these risks then i suggest you dont swim in the ocean and buy a ticket for your local swimming pool. Personally i have always swam in the ocean and have told my family in no uncertain terms that i wouldnt want any shark that injured or killed me killed in return. I think more people will drown at beaches this year ten will be killed by sharks in the next 10 years.

  2. Since im in the process of planning another trip over the west coast this coming January i got in the mood to look at some of the video from when we were last over there in January 2007 and thoughts i would post some links for anyone who might not have seen them already.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60gh3-u-o_whttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjqHmI8Ak2Q

  3. Like anything with practice your distance will improve when casting any type of real but particularly with overheads. I cannot comment on the 30ha but with my 50h i can get some very good distance but generally with surf fishing maximum distance isnt always required. The reel has a tension adjustment on the side so at first you can tighten this right up which will effect your casting distance but will reduce birds next considerably until you improved your technique in casting with an overhead.

  4. I have the larger 50 without the lever wind and love this reel...i borrowed my friends and loved the grunt and speed of line retrevial so brought one myself. I have used it to wrestle snapper out from under Wallaroo jetty and have used it in the surf casting for mulloway.I will be using it over on the west coast after xmas chasing mulloway and sharks also. Its nice and smooth with a drag that has alot of pull in it!

thats a weekend type of read for me.great photos though :) can someone please put me in the picture and point out what was controversial ???

I believe he advertised for a a couple of regular fishing partners to share the cost of fuel and bait and the such and it could cost roughtly $300 per trip if i recall correctly, John got his back up saying that he was virtually offering a charter service and that its illegal to accept money from people to take them out in your boat unless your a charter. As i see it he wasnt after people to do single trips but people who would be consistantly available mid week to do these trips and share costs. From my point of view if there is a law saying that sharing running costs is illegal and anyone has ever been out in someone elses boat and didnt break this law on every occasion then they should hang their head in shame.
