  1. With all due respect Weaver, I understand you have been a member for a long time and have a right to speak your mind but from my point of veiw If it wasnt for mindless banter I mostly would have nothing to say.I dont fish every day, I work. Sure if I fished everyday I would give you a report. I have reported on what I have done when its worth reporting and mostly with pics ie I have put some effort into the report. However, in the meantime I dont mind a chat. Now Im not one to go sit at a bar for hours or go out with the boys every night so what I do is I go online and have a chat, its my social outlet and its what I find enjoyable and therefore relaxing. I didnt realise that there was a ruling against digression. Just like in the bar,or anywhere having a chat the converstion shifts. Of coarse as with the bar, or anywhere you always have the freedom to remove yourself or abstain from the conversation. Now dont get me wrong, I understand that you want a fishing site to be about fishing and you feel that that is being undermined. However I dont really understand whats wrong with people having a little fun inbetween fishing. I would venture to say that I have learnt a great deal about fishing and most importantly about LOCAL fishing in my short time on this site, so suffice it to say that THIS SITE IS FULLFILLING ITS INTENDED OUTCOME.Come on mate, how many sites of any Nature are truly local. Google anything and you wont find it pertaining to South Australia. If we cant enjoy the site on many levels then perhaps it is me who has joined the wrong site and I have the wrong ideas about what this site is about.Btw, i wasnt on the river cruise but i assume if you were weaver you made sure that the conversations were not railroaded and were kept strictly on fishing. Thanks for listeningAnthony

  2. HMMM I wonder if he was serious how much that 1 particular liitle rock of Nevs would go for. I think you should run a mock auction Nev to see just what kind of figure might be reached here. Id suggest people staying realistic with their amount so we can see just what its worth to others (we all know its priceless to the man himself) but how much are we prepared to pay??Ill start the bidding at $400going once.....

Looks like a nice fat one. Some of the Mackerel we were yanking in the other day had then on their tongues.I have been told there is a large variety that will have a go at people - they go straight for the soft spots - armpits / crotches :blink:

I have to be honest here...I love anything that goes straight for the HARD spot on my crotch ;) Marko...VB...yes, all to familiar a story im afraid :( So many orphans :(:(
  5. Posted ImageThis little critter came out of a leather jackets guts. It has little legs that come out the side. I left it out and it just stayed alive for ages (until I squashed it to be more specific)... Had to throw it in the bin coz the missus thought it was some kinda alien that was gunna grow and eat us through the night..gotta tell ya, I didnt mind throwin it away either...freaky lookin little bastard :dry:Its about the size of a fifty cent peice. The couple of little black things on front are eyes...like one of them paintings they followed me wherever I went (and I went down to the shop at 1 stage) Any ideas??
  6. Looks like you picked your day mate. Bus looks good ;) Was down there a couple w/ends ago collecting cockles and the weather was beautiful and the sand already nice and hard so its a great time to head mouthward I reckon. Btw theres still plenty of cockles down there ;)though it all ends after next w/end :(

What if you have a 150yd spool of braid and it only fills half the spool? Thats when you need the mono backing for the non slipping aspect and building up the height so you're able to cast.

Buy a bigger spool of braid... .

Shouldnt if if you tie it on there properly. We always put a peice of masking tape around the spool give the braid something to bite into.

Easy done hey dubs. I dont beleive in the mono backing coz id rather have a constant line to the end but each to their own. So many different ideas hey
  9. Not that ive done it but i know people who have and all of them ( just like Nev ) swear by building your own. They all talk about the satisfaction. However if you are an incredibly lazy arsed man like me and beleive that as bad as Maccas is to eat, at least you dont have to get outa your car to buy it, then pre made is your best option. With the quality of off the shelf rods for fair money these days i reckon custom made is a thing of the pastJust take your time with your decision and I'm sure it'll be the right 1 for you :)

  10. No prob mate. My order of love...Dog, Football, Cricket, Kids, WifeId hate to see a dog poisened and I do love having my dog with me wherever I go.Did you work out the paternoster rig? Did you look up how to spot gutters? This knowledge is essential for successful surf fishing. ;)

  11. DO NOT TAKE A DOG TO SALT CREEK!!!Firstly I dont think it is legal to do so but not certainSecondly there is a heavy baiting progrom down there so i can assure you if you take a dog it will not return :( You should use a standard paternoster rig ( google it ) with a grapnell sinker ( the ones with the prongs ) Many baits work down there, pillies, gar, mullet, youll even get fish on a hook loaded with a heap of cockles. It never hurts to burly either. If thinking of going over tea tree then stop at the shell servo at salties and ask if its open ( it was full of water a couple of weeks ago )When your on a surf beach you are looking for GUTTERS and TRENCHES to fish into, any where else you are waisting your time. Look for a discernable difference between waves ie there will be obvious spots where there is no WHITE on the wave or,FLAT sea compared to bigger or well formed waves. Again googleing may help you understand this better. This is where to plonk a lineThis time of year you will mostly get elephant shark and sambosOH, take plenty of warm clothes ;) Good luck mate :)
