BigUnit91 0
Coming back to fishing after a long absence. I have an old (15yr +) 6'6" Shimano Signature Series 2652 rod with a Shimano R4000 (FX4000) reel (came with the rod as a combo). Got rid of the line as it wasn't in good nick. The rod has line weight of 6 - 15lbs. The reel seems in good nick. A friend (an avid angler) suggested a Penn SpinFisher SS reel to go with it. Should I keep the orignal reel or upgrade to the Penn or another? Line?I live up near Port Augusta and intially will try to fish for the smaller fish - salmon, snapper, etc and look at a surf rod later on for the bigger fish. Any help/recommendations with this would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
CallopHunter 1
the old Shimano combo should do the trick they are really a great and reliable brand and as for line I suggest braid for all the multi purpose stuff but if you are off the rocks mono is the way to go!
