mcyz250f 0
Hi I'm fairly new to beach fishing I've been out on the boat and jetties a lot but this is completely new to me. I already have a fair selection of rods I'm mainly just looking for advice on bait and what species to target in the general metro area preferably near north haven. I'm fine with any size or sort of fish ( maybe sharks or rays) I just want to be able to catch something haha.Any help and advice will be much appreciated Thanks

Tinker 1,645
Try fishing off the stones at Snowdens Marina entrance.Use bloodworms for bait, or Z-Man grubs rigged lightly in motor oil colour to target some nice mid 30s bream.Outer Harbour has also been firing with good bream and snapper, though you will need to walk at least halfway along the rocks to find a honey hole that hasn't been over-fished.Fishermans Wharf at Nth Arm is also a good spot at certain times, as is the area under the new road and rail bridges.Focus on fishing structure for the best results.Other than that, going for a walk and flick of the SPs in West Lakes might be worth a try. mcyz250f
mcyz250f 0
I might avoid soft plastics for a bit Tinker, spent 6hrs yesterday going around west lakes and port river trying to get my first bream or anything else on soft plastics and I have nothing to show for it I'll stick to the trusty real baits for now haha. I'll definitely give the worms a shot of the rocks and hope for something. I'll take my gopro cameras along so if I catch anything the footage will be uploaded . Cheers for the advice
piratepom 3,197
G'day mate. Your post suggested beach fishing, but if u r keen to fish off the rocks then the NH and OH rocks can be a reel hoot! This time of year Gar and Bream are good options. Good luck mate. PM me if you like! mcyz250f
mcyz250f 0
I know I'm starting to expand on the topic but seeing as there are some knowledgable people on here, which areas out from the metro beaches should I target next time I head out on the boat ( no gps marks required ) just general area for whiting because my dad and myself are getting a little bit sick of sitting over patches of trumpeter and puffers. I'm asking so many questions cos we are moving down that way. Thanks for any further responses :cheer:
