My opinion, and just my opinion only, is to leave the cheap stuff on ebay, and use gear that ya know you can trust. If you're interested in a TLD 50 and rollered 24kg outfit, you're chasing BIG fish.Your gear is gonna be put under a lot of strain, and you're gonna be devoting time, effort and cash into chasing these critters, so when ya finally do get a good hook-up, ya dont wanna lose it because a piece of cheap equipment has let you down. With that cheap stuff you'll have gears stripping and drags smoking until the entire reel either implodes or explodes. If it were me, I'd be looking at names such as: Tiagra, International, Saltiga, etc or at the cost effective end of town TLD, Senator, Sealine, etc.Budget gear is fine for Gar, Squid and Whiting which doesn't put a lot of strain on ya equipment, but when ya start getting serious about your fishing, ya also need to use serious gear! Each knot and swivel is gonna be hugely important, and it's gotta be attached to gear which can do the work for you.Good luck in your exploits, and I hope you prove me wrong!

like i said, im buying them cause they cheap, and to see how they go, in the end they will end up being a spare, if that, more buying them out of curiosity then cause i want them for reel use ( pardon the pun) though it could possibl be informative for other users, as im only just getting into fishing for the bigger species, will be more then happy to shell out the money when it comes to it, so yeah, only buying them for shits and giggles, then for reel use( pardon the pun again :P)

???Ummm, that's what I meant when I said "In which case you also stand to lose little on your investment."You are paying very little for them, so if it doesn't work out, you will only lose little!

all in good time, lol, waiting till i start catching things that NEED a bigger reel :Pon the flip side though, used the two cheapies twice now, with one run on each at st kilda with rays, never beached em though, i keep getting brocken line, damn things either tail whip me, or run me through rocks, but anywaycasting with them wasnt to bad, had to play with the reel clutch ( not sure on technical term) so that it didnt bird nest, but after that, they worked well, cast nicely, and smooth.drag worked well on the runs, but both reels had a tendency to grab really suddenly when tightening up, it adjusts nicely up, and then all of a sudden no drag, where as my penn, has a very gradual drag, right up to the tightening point.now reeling in, again, was surprised, doesnt compare to the penns, which just glides under all pressures, but the cheapies where quite nice, no bumps or uneven spots, a lot better then i expected, but still, doesnt come close to the penn.Im gonan hit kilda again on thursday with a couple of mates, both have sharked before, so will see what they think, and report back, hopefully ill land one this time lol
