  1. all in good time, lol, waiting till i start catching things that NEED a bigger reel :Pon the flip side though, used the two cheapies twice now, with one run on each at st kilda with rays, never beached em though, i keep getting brocken line, damn things either tail whip me, or run me through rocks, but anywaycasting with them wasnt to bad, had to play with the reel clutch ( not sure on technical term) so that it didnt bird nest, but after that, they worked well, cast nicely, and smooth.drag worked well on the runs, but both reels had a tendency to grab really suddenly when tightening up, it ad
  2. i know mic well, get everything from him, and he always throws in a certina something aswell, lol, he loves giving me SP's to try, as im still trying to learn to catch on them.Him and colin gonna take me out next month on a decent shark run too, so looking forward to that
  3. if the wife lets me, im gonna take both the reels out tonight and try and get a ray of st kilda, but will see, have them both on 30ilb mono ( my other line didnt turn up in time) and ill be using slimey macks, will take a book aswell lol, sit on the break water and see how i go, will see if i can get into the snook aswell while im out there
  4. nah is all good, ive got a penn reel, using that till i decide if im gonna keep going with it, if i do, ill see what kind of reel i go for then.thanks for the offer though
  5. yeah will do, ill be putting one on my penn seaboy, and the other on my penn GT, only 5ft7 5-11kg, nut aslong as i get a run, i think will see how they handle :DWill probably have to wait till saturday, till the line turns up and i have the chance to get out there, ot i go for a couple of hours on friday, cause i finish early and dont have to get the "kiddies" till 6time will tell, i just wanna see what they can do, hope they dont fall apart first run lmao, but wouldnt be surprised
  6. ahh, fair enough, misunderstood comment lol
  7. what investment? im buying something thats cheap to see how it goes, ahvent you bought anything from a garage sale before, just cause you felt like it?on another note, they arrived today, feel smooth enough, finished well, but cant tell anything till i actually get to use em, waiting on delivery of some 30ilb mono, so will take them out to kilda and see how they fair on a ray or too when that arrives
  8. like i said, im buying them cause they cheap, and to see how they go, in the end they will end up being a spare, if that, more buying them out of curiosity then cause i want them for reel use ( pardon the pun) though it could possibl be informative for other users, as im only just getting into fishing for the bigger species, will be more then happy to shell out the money when it comes to it, so yeah, only buying them for shits and giggles, then for reel use( pardon the pun again )
  9. okies, so im new to sharking, and got myself a budget penn combo, and as im still getting into it, im pretty happy with it, been eyeing off a tld 50, with a roller rod, but will leave it a while and see how into it i get.But in the mean time, for somethign to do, ive been hunting ebay, and iv bought a couple of , whats the best way to put it? lolI guess some "cheap and nasty's" jsut to see and compare with my penn, only cost $20, so not to fussed if they suck dogs whatsits, they both by Melaluka, who ive never heard of, and i was thinking of putting a reviews up, compatison of quality and use
