Guest fishum
Get yourself a ice cream or Tupperware container preferably square and add enough oil to cover the amount of bait you need to use that day.Next get your bait and slip in the hooks with the trace already attached. One way to stop your bait from falling off is to use that elastic string or rubber bands. Now drop all your baits into the tuna oil container leaving the trace(s) hanging out at various sides of the container and push on the lid.If you use long traces you can always roll them up on a bottle cork and rubber band over the topThe main aim here it to do this one or two days before your planned trip as the bait will have time to soak in that tuna and give a longer lasting effect.I have gone to the extent of poking a knife blade over the bait to get more oil to be absorbedA few advantages is no messy stuff to deal with at or on the water and having pre-rigged baits with flavor increases your chancesDue to the bait being sealed in oil any unused bait can be taken home and frozen for the next trip.
