  1. Sounds like a god technique there Ben,I have caught them using unweighted Frogmouth with a slow sink and drop before, and also fresh gar fillets using the same slow retrieve.Long time between drinks for me with the Mullies though, just dont have the time and perserverance. When I did used to chase them, would be on the water every Friday night, sometimes more often, putting in lots of hours and getting in tune with the patterns, tides, moons, bait activity and so on.Results came with this, but I have found that now I just head down for a couple of hours here and there, basically no results
  2. Yeah Butters, it was awesome and just one of those things of being in the right place at the right time I guess.I have a theory on them from my limited experience that with jetties and the like they tend to congretate around them sort of like an FAD.Not necessarily actively feeding but just hanging around and can be hard to get to bite. But with a spot like where I got those, off the rocks , with drop offs ect they were there for the purpose of hunting and on the move, none of this milling around, there were pods of 40 to 50 gar showering out the water as they were smashing them. And the rul

  6. Wouldnt say I am the biggest fan of hooking big rays, they can be a right pain when chasing Mullies from the beaches. But for testing out a new outfit the local stretches of sand can be a good testing field on monster Eaglies. This one was the biggest Eaglie I"ve ever caught, no idea of its weight, but was fishing for Elly sharks when it hooked up.The rod was a 12 foot uglystick, the heaviest most backbreaking thing I"ve ever used.Fair dinkum it put hurt on the ray but busted my nuts as well, I sold it not long after.Cheers {SMILIES_PATH}/cool.gif
  7. Be great fun out in one of those. But that black sillouette of something like that .....bit too much like Pointer food for my liking, I"d pass on that idea me thinks, I like my limbs attatched.
  8. Howd you be guys.I recently went to my local tackleshop and struck up a conversation with the trainee worker there. Both having the common interest in fishing we decided on a trip.Turns out we got along like a house on fire and hit it off with a great outing, unfortunately I didnt get any bites but my new friend Sam got two rippers. Now my missus doesnt want me going fishing any more and demands I SELL all my gear.I cant work out why for love or money. It really upsets me!Anyhow here is a pic of Sam with the two rippers from our one and only trip together.Cheers {SMILIES_PATH}/cool.gif
