  1. Hey guys hows it going. Planning on doing a short overnight trip somewhere and I am fighting all the options on where to go. Was considering heading to waits and flicking for salmon and mulloway but part of me wants to head somewhere a bit further that I normally don't have time to do in a single day trip. Am also thinking of heading to Yorke's but don't really know the best places to try and go for them. Pretty much want to target Salmon and Mulloway exclusively.Does anyone know if there are any beachs on Yorke's where you can make a camp fire? Would be good for during the night time.Any suggestions?

  2. Bream really come into their own on a combination of light gear and lures. The bigger they get, the smarter they get and the harder they become to catch, so catching a decent sized bream on a lure is about the satisfaction of fooling the fish with your techniques. Not only that but they are big fighters for their size and when using light gear like is often required for lure work they will really test your outfits.

  3. Jarvis Walker used to be good but now coz its the cheapy it isn't the best. I've managed to go through about 5 of those $30 combo rods and they all came to the same fate of the guides falling off or the tips snapping for almost no reason. I still use the broken rocks for squid and things (even if it's broken, if it works it works) but now use my Shimano if I'm actually targetting fish.

  4. Hey guys sorry to bring up an old thread but thought I'd let you know, a Mullet I caught in the onk has been successfully alive in a 50L tank sitting in my bedroom for almost 2 months now. He's happy and swimming, he even eats from my hand now and lets me pat him haha. The setup is just a good filter and an airstone and its been successful so far.

  5. When going for a walk on the jetty here where I am, I'm not racist :P , but I find the Japanese keep alot of under size fish that makes me livid.. :censored: :icon_evil: :icon_evil:Walking along I think "WHERE" are the fishery boys .hissy.I make a comment and a snide remark here and there to them..I hate it..I even had a so called friend, not any more coz I threw him over the jetty :P ;D ;) ( kidding ) who kept a squid the hood being no more than 2 inches, I mean come on.. :oHorrid.. But true bout not being friends any more..

i keep squid that small they make excellent bait. Squid don't have a size limit so its well within his and my rights to take them
  6. Sorry to bring up an oldish post but I think carp is a great bait. I'm always looking for cheap effective baits and I think I've hit the jackpot with carp. Sat in the cold for 4 hours last Thursday morning without so much as a bite using salted pilchards as bait, switched to carp and on the first cast landed a whiting, 2nd cast a leather jacket, 3rd cast a salmon trout and 4th cast a flathead. I was shocked and surprised, would've kept fishing cept I left my tacklebox at home and a big leather jacket that took the bait bit through the line. Went back down there later that night and managed to land another salmon trout. The day before I went down there with carp and landed a nice 45cm aus salmon, a leather jacket and a 33cm bream. Seems the fish love carp meat!

  7. I'm going to give swapping it around a shot but for years now I've fished with my strong hand on the winding action. I've never seemed to have issues using my left hand to jig or give action to the rod and swapping hands after casting is such a non issue i dunno why its even mentioned, takes about 1/10 of a second... pfft. But, I'll give the other way a shot and see if I prefer it after trying it out a few times.

  8. Great tip. Believe it or not though, if you can get a pure white jag it will actually reflect more light than the alfoil. Learnt this from the construction of reflectors for aquarium lights, a white base is always preferred to alfoil because it reflects more light back down for plant growth. Of course if you get any mess on your white jag it will start losing it's reflection but I'd recommend a hard bodied glossy white jag for those murky conditions :) Alfoil easily does the trick too though as it does still act like a great reflector and is the quicker and cheaper option most of the time.

  9. Hi guys, Well I'm flat broke at the moment, about 5c in my wallet and I'm still after the ever elusive Mulloway. I have made a dough mix up for catching some tommy's which I know is lethal coz it was my burley mix for a while and it sent em nuts. Only problem is I can't keep it on the hooks!Should I just keep thickening it up with flour or does anyone know any tips that could help me out? Cheers guys. Also I have a tin of sweet corn do you rkn they'd perhaps take that?

  10. I'm on myspace and facebook. I run a record label so myspace is an invaluable tool for marketing. Facebook is good for it too but myspace takes the cake. Facebook is better for me to keep in touch with artists and mates I've met from interstate, makes organising things a lot easier.
