  1. The last time I was at Claris just got a nice burly trail going and a boat came upWell ok, that’s alright, till he dropped his anchor on my prop I was so pissed offThat same web site, Highfly you are referring to was asking for money for that mark you have got to be joking As far as I am concerned the more people know about claries the better Don’t plan to go there anytime Like brenton said I will drop the rod if I have a fish on, whiting or what ever if a boat comes close Just the other week it was a bit rough so I came in close to calmer water and not catching much a few tommies and garfish everywhere, so decided to throw a lure around and try for SnookThis boat must have seen my casting and thought I was on to something and anchored alongside like 10m as he dropped his pick I picked mine up and moved on that’s Adelaide

  2. Hi osdIn all fairness to gaffer, he did take this talk else were, I was hoping he wouldn’tBut my dribbling on probably put him off And we know you were more on about the cockles than the carbon foot print really ;) I read the cockles are in trouble in a big way, I don’t think you could really call it knee jerk reactionCommercial catches have been down the last few yearsAnd I think there catch Quota has been almost halved (stand to be corrected unsure of real figures) As well and us recreational fishers I would rather the fisheries reacting now, then when it’s too late

  3. Funny only a couple of weeks have gone bye and a couple of leaked emails And the whole world has turned upside downGood on you Gaffer for keeping at it, and thanks for the link I enjoyed it What a character that Lord ChristopherAgain thanks, I myself was, what I really should say still a bit naïveAnd a bit more blasé about the whole thing Just hope Rude can see it for what it is

  4. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little envious, no were near it big time envy That is great stuff, snapper of the rocksWho needs a boat when you can catch quality fish like that?Well done I am sure the hair and the sun burn was worth every minute I will have to remember that one here Fishies Fishie FishieI have been using fishy fish and it hasn’t been workingI think you will need a couple more cartons of eggs just saw half of Adelaide driving your way ;)

  5. Man I should never post after having a fewWhat I was trying to say I noticed the my crab catches getting smaller and harder to find I keep a fishing diary and only used to right when I done wellAnd I was having more bad days than good ones so I decided to write everything down I grabbed as much data as I could and sent it in, I was thanked for my input But it didn’t really change a thingCommercial crabbers were taking around 21,000 tonnes in1984 40,000 tonnes in1989 92,000 tonnes in1992284,000 tonnesin1996And my diary was showing me something was wrongI don’t bother going to these places anymore, but you can still get a feed in these areas and it can be hard workI still think the pros are having a field day but as long as they don’t wipe them outThere should be room for the both of us

  6. I know we are almost on the same pageAnd we all want our grandkids to be able catch some fish and I hope they all canI about 15 years ago I sent an email to local government I gave them my fishing diary all the blue crabs time of year etc I love my crabs and they have always been part of our Xmas lunch I have always gone to Pt Parham/ Lowerlight and managed a feed Ill give you a run down 10-11-02 Thompson beach 40 undersize crabs came home with zero20 -12-02 Lowerlight 60 undersize 6 keepers I have never ever seen this so bad in all the time I have been going thereCrabs are always around and have been a great size, I got so desperate I went to ardrossan and every crab was undersize at that point I then cracked and done a dummy spitAt that point I thought sending my diary was that the right thing to do and at that point wasNow Blue Crabs are not the issue they are know again in good numbers and good sizeI for one cant see why Gulf St Vincent and Spencer have different bag limits anyway Let alone west of Lincoln there allowed 30cm KGW COME ON !!!!!!!!!Ok that might have been a slight spit, but I think I am over it And no one here wants to talk Tuna

  7. I agree that’s bag limits are crazy in my eyesAnd is always going be a hot topicI think 120 crabs is insane and 180 garfish also that’s me And I can’t understand why the bag limit on king george whiting is 12 why not 10 we are metric after all After saying that I know a couple that go on there annual holiday and really only fish for garfish for two weeks and they come home with there freezer full and that is there fish for the year They can only go fishing once a year in that time period because of were they live and jobs etcNow to me that is ok there not killing fish for no reason and are sticking to bag limits etcI think it come down to only keeping what you want to eat or use for bait etcThere is one fish I know that is in trouble Southern Blue Fin TunaAustralia has to cut there catch by 30% all because of greed Japan have been caught with exceeding there catch limit by 200,000 tons And they say the breeding stock is down to 5% of 1940 levelLooks like we could witness the extinction of one of the great fish in our watersAnd I don’t think rec bag limits had anything to do with this problem its just greed the love for money

  8. I know that some people are getting very rich on this band wagon i.e. Al Gore Its nuts now there saying water vapour is the main contributor to global warmingAnd everyone has forgotten El NinoSo hydrogen cars are out now, we just can’t get it rightGaffer no matter how angry you get these pollutions have a different mindset to any normal person they seem to have a crap filter switched on in reverse Sure send them an email or blog them, but be aware some poor public servants screening all there stuff You would have to do a rally to get the press involved to make any dent to there filter And even then it still will go on deaf ears i.e. De Sal plant go figure, we pump all our storm water plus more into the gulf and now we wont to suck it back in Someone is making a lot of money, but they are creating new jobsIt’s got pros and cons At work we all do things, I call it the lost syndrome you have to push the button every 44minute I can’t remember the right time frame but you know what I meanAt my work we do gauge calibrations, all because some smart ass from a past customer just came out of uni and said your gauges have to be calibratedIt’s been over 15years and no one can tell me why we still do it If a gauge doesn’t work we replace it Ever since I found out my boy had autism I now look at life a bit differently time to smell the roses you don’t get what you really wont or do you I wanted a son that would love me and love to go fishing and I got one And yes I have been drinking Gaffer it sounds like you need to go out and relax and do some fishingDrive down and scoop up as many cockles as you can carryI might even join you ;)

  9. Love the place for the fillet knife top right hand cornerNice job ufish2 with that fillet table, if you build it they will comeI think that was from movie I really hatedWarps are a pain Waterboy that’s why I fillet at night these days Spotlight, plastic card table, and the old lemon tree that’s for me ;):P

  10. I have never done it but I like the idea of the BBQ cast wall :P I would think you would cut the fins off and make a cast then dole then back into placeIt’s the jaws I think would be the problem Unless you cast it with its mouth shut probably the only way to do it away Be fun to try My mate mounted a snapper head on a plaque he dried it out firstThen put a clear varnish over it but he said the head did shrink a bitLooks great mouth open still with the hooks and trace

  11. Never used a scaling bag for scaling fish seen it done and the fish do get notched aroundBut the squid idea is a good one, I have heard of people using thenRemove the head and cut the tip off the tail so water can go through the squid tube I have a pic of some thing being notched about in a scaling bag Man it was hot today Posted Image

  12. I new Britney would get a mention on a global warming topic ;) Touchy subject really we all know the earth was warmer 250 millions years ago Around 6c Then something big hit the earth making an ice ageSo naturally the earth will won’t to warm back up, we most likely are helping that process a move little faster As for the cockle I always buy mine from my local ramp, I hope to help keep the local people in a job With everything going off shore these days I would hate to see the cockle guys go out of business or the local tackle shop But if you really won’t to go get your own cockles bag limits are bag limits Stay the weekend or take the family or friends and or both
