  1. im with ya vb4me! im going to goolwa on the weekend and i didnt even think of taking any cockles as there is a shortage and i still have enuff from last year! fair enuff taking your limit but undersize ones are no go and they should be ashamed! because what are they gonna catch their undersize king george and snapper on when there is no more cockles left :angry: grrr

  2. brenton is right i used to be a chef and before pickling we used to blanch in salty water beforehand! but you could also try marinating it in kiwi fruit for an hour to a day before pickling as the acid in the kiwi fruit will break down the toughness of the cuttlefish! have a look in the thread worlds tenderest squid! I havnt tried this myself but it could be worth a shot

I'm totally off topic here, but what school was that with Reelin ? I used to go there myself ages ago ;)
I went to coorara then woodcroft college! but that camp was for the flaxmill cubs like junior scouts when i was about 7 or 8
  4. my first fish was a carp caught at goolwa at the sea scout hall while camping for cubs it was also the first time i had used a rod and caught a murray cod as well! My first sea fish was a yelloweye mullet from o sullies boat ramp same for tommie and yellowfin whiting! Still to catch mulloway, snapper shark and rays

Nice trouts guys!@samboman thats a good looking trout for sa well done!my only rainbow trout have been at tooperang on lures two went 500g and my missus droped about 3 huge ones on lure it was her first time luring so it was a good effort but a smaller one she hooked on to went 700g she was stoked then i hooked on to a kilo one produced a good fight on low drag but nowhere near as fun as finding one in a real setting like lakes and streams but i am yet to get out and hunt them :) soon though!

  7. GNSS all we are asking for is a clear explanation of what you are talking about. not you putting up posts that hint at something and explain nothing and then you replying with veiled insults and still giving no information as to what the actual topic is about! you can rabbit on with all the supposed eloquence of an intellectual GPS 'expert' but all you are doing is talking in circles. If you want a debate please state clearly what we are actually debating about and give us the full scenario not just hint that you know more than anyone else but refuse to part with this information. if its supposed to be for the good of all GPS users hopefully whoever is leading this changeover parts with more information than you do otherwise there will only be one user of the new system!!

It means that there is probably going to be a real and concerted attempt at preventing on going issues with illegal definitions and incorrect application of reference to GDA94.This has some fairly important ramifications a little further down the track when GDA undergoes further changes but at the moment what might have been an education campaign todate is going to target some of the applicators. I don't believe you have any issues here now but there are others who do and just maybe word of mouth will reach them first? What you might call an advertizing campaign.

In Australia it is spelt advertising with an s B) GNZZ :P:lol:
  9. The technique that you use shane is a very good one! When i was a chef this is how all our fish that were filleted used to come they were in what they call shatterpacks so we used to drop the box of 5 or 10 kilos on the floor and they would come apart in their layers without breaking! The product that chuckemback is talking about comes from the same crew that make glad wrap and is called Go between and its just sheets of clear food grade plastic that come in a roll like gladwrap and in the kitchen we use to use about 1 aday as you can put them on top of soups or liquids to stop a skin forming or to put on top of a bowl thats marinadind something in it without having to waste glad wrap and they are especially good for layering the fish in tha freezer! :) anuther technique you can use is with the vacuum seal tey arent very expensive nowadays, and you can lay your fish in i guess a serve or 2 at a time and then all the air gets sucked out leaving only a very small package to fit in the freezer :)

  10. Thanks guys for all your info! :) i have to say my favourite jig which i seem to catch my squid on is an old surecatch pink one with a 3.5 weight on it it looks almost identical to the one on the end in fushlups photo, its funny because although i bought a new pack a while ago i still always use my old trusty (or maybe that should be old rusty ) first. I mostly use the jig clipped to a snap tied straight to the mainline as some people have said above but i mustnt be fishing the right spots at the right time! I did see one guy at the pt noarlunga jetty fishing with the jig about a metre under a float he caught a squid while i was watching but i had never seen this rig before! any thoughts on that?
