  2. its sort of 20 dollars either side of 100 but it will be my first so it doesnt have to be top quality to start with ill eventually get a better one ive recently spent almost a grand on a wilson surf rod and penn reel and new reels for my other rods in the last coupla months and ive got a broken leg so no income coming in at the moment im keen to get a flick stick tho just to hone my lure and soft plastics skills(which are minimal)
  3. im just wondering if there is any suggestions for a good graphite rod thats 2-4 kilo and for roughly 100 bucks for bream and lure fishing
  4. yeah i spray alot of it for work and some of the places it grows are next to fishy looking holes so you dont have to cart it in.
  5. has anyone tried crushing fennel and using it as either in your burley or rubbing on bait lures or sps heard it is a trick the aboriginies used to use but you will notice that it smells very aniseedy and grows wild in lots of national parks
  6. yeah thanks waterboy ya know its almost impossible to go into the takleshop and not buy anything even if its just a pack of hooks your advice is always good it just seems everytime i go fishing theres more stuff i need to know thats wat keeps fishing fun i guess
  7. ive had a bit of luck with bream on lures and on the glenelg river with sps this was with 10 pound mono and basically we had to as soon as we felt a bump strike and skull drag them to the boat bcause they took us into the snags about 50% percent of the time but in the onk i rarely feel the bump i guess this is bcause of the mono and to high pound leader thanks for the tips mate ill be looking at getting into the tackle shop soon
  8. cheers benny i have a broken leg at the mo so ive been practicing from geoff wilsons knot and rig book i have been doing the line to leader knot so i can do that but why would you have the braid on the reel and then the leader flurocarbon i thought braid was for extra strength agains getting rubbed or bitten off?
  9. i am amatuer fisho and right tackle for fish is not my strong point yet just want to know i have a 6'6 ugly stick clearwater with a jarvis walker reel spooled with 10 pound mono i was using 20 pound line as my leader? i think thats what its called until i started learning and reading more i discovered the lighter the leader the less visible it is. i just bought some platypus platinum 6 pound line can i tie this to my 10 pound line as a leader to put my hooks on or tie a lure or sps to or should i have my reel spooled with 6 pound and get maybe 8-10 pound leader this will be used mainly for lan
  10. just another tip if you are say deep frying for s&p squid or crumbed squid hot oil and 30 seconds is really all you need its called flash frying and with the kiwi fruit tip its beautiful.

  12. Hi guys thought id let all you squid lovers out there know a chefs secret tip on how to get really tender squid. I worked as a chef for 8 years and there was alot of different ways we kept squid like in milk or just covered in the fridge but i was shown this tip by a chef and since then i have never looked back it is really simple here is the method: you will need one to two kiwi fruitcut the squid into pieces ie trellissed strips, rings or squares i have not tried it with full tubes but it would work and place into a container suitable for the fridge . then squash the kiwi fruit into the con
