  1. Hi Dylbaa,I frequent waits n parsons salt creek, even tried wallaroo for worms a few years back when the kids were younger etc and have never seen them? possibly they may be there but it must be the coarseness of the sand as the beaches that i know hold them are mostly a finer compacted type of sand, but damn theyre a fine bait for most everything from brim to jewies they all love them, and catching them is half the fun beats paying 8>10 dollars for one bloody worm these days.happy worm hunting if you ever try at moana let me know ill join ya

  2. if your south of metro try moana, to the right of the life saving club down towards the rocks or aldinga / sellicks, usually bigger worms but patchy ! i use cows liver but bag of fish frames works just as well.Must admit i havent done a lot of worming in the colder months but im guessing theyre still available?

  3. Hi Sandy.looks like a great day was had.....sure beats working hey, I have a little hint of which might be of some use, apparently, when cutting open the tube prior to cutting in slices before cooking , ALWAYS score diagonally etc the INSIDE of the tube, dont ask me why this is supposed to be the way chefs do it for a nice succulent finished result.Anyways tight lines.Sean :)

  4. Struth Wayne you must be some gun fisho on whiting to use theyre"Nuts" for berley......Got any Tits...on how to grab a handfull ........Aw sorry guys...just left an interesting mental picture of a guy doing some really fine detailed filleting....S

  5.:blush::blush: Actually it was my bad, attempting to strip out a few lengths of fly line, the connection loop from the fly line and the tippet caught on a runner, and as usually it slips right thru no dramas as i wasnt watching it caught and one pull slightly too hard, well its a no no a   :( :S lmost as bad as highsticking a good fish.
  6. Last try for kingies, live gar was taken, on the 15kg gear, never ever seen line like that leave my reel, panic struck as i looked dumbfounded at my reel, decided to pop it about half a dozen wraps of line lefti reckon it would have done the same on the 24kg outfit.S

  7. Thought id post this for a chuckle. As my planned trip to pt Augusta was post poned due to illness of the fisho whom was going with me, :S I happened to get an invite to try yorkes for land based snapper Cape Elizabeth came too mind but we didnt get there .next time tho thats where im headed. At first I thought this would be a great second plan as I had taken leave for Monday and Tuesday. and as the weather was predicting a blowy time ( as it was supposed to be bloody windy at pt Augusta  )the water would be dirty and choppy of which would benefit fishing from the rocks.... Anyway Pt Riley didnt fire at all, too calm too clear except for a good feed of calamari cuttlefish and some massive leather jackets so time too move.As it happens the sun was out i was aquiring q bit of colour so on with the sunscreen and boy was it warming up.....So new location was on the other side of the bay.calm clear and shallow reef...methinks perfect for the fly rod and chuck a few clousers around for any flathead..as it was warming up and im akin to losing the togs for that au natural feeling......so out with the fly rod off with the clobber , except for my sneakers, so off i went with a smile on my face and my rod in my hand ( fly rod that is), sure there were a couple of nearby pro"s, ( fishers that is )but i wasn"t worried by them and the sight of my tiny white arse would soon scare them away in fits of laughter. So out I waded , out n out n out, geez the water temperature was cold.....and deep too  .....found my footing on a nice piece of flat reef adjacent some good weed and sand spots, went to strip off a few lengths of fly line ..SNAP...... tip broke with a crack like a rifle.... :S .Mortified I looked towards the boats im sure i could here fits of laughter and some thumps on the bottom of the boat, and proceeded to wade all the way back in..with pieces of my rod in both hands and funnily enough muttering in quite a high pitched voice  ..much to the well held grins and smiles of my fishing partner...thankfully she had a good sense of humour and after i had the mickey taken out of me, a smoke and a bit of pouting I saw the funny side of things.yup reel funny Suntan cream 2.00broken fly rod 220.00My tiny white arse retreating from the water....Priceless :blush::blush:

  8. I would say if this was a major public / government concern we would already be limited to swimming, boating "between the poles / within the shark nets",etc as are some beaches around this country and internationally. As every shark spotting within metro areas is taken upon the public to alert the relevant authorities and they act accordingly, to make safe the public as best they can,by the only way possible by utilising surf patrol bodies and shark planes etc, these occurences are and could only be acted upon in a "spot the fire basis" there would be literally limiltess different situations of which would need to be acted upon, this fact as well as the limited resources available. human resources and government expenditure obviously deem the risk to be taken by the boaters and swimmers as has been done for decades" Use the environment for your own use take all personal precautions neccesary look after the environment, but you do so at your own risk"....S

  9. LMAO I sure hope your not just getting my hopes up Crocka, well it sure looks like it would hold flathead, hey i might needa decent rod to flick some plastics around for the flathead and snapper then lol Last time i was there got the 8 wieght out and tried but no luck i was told that by this old chap who drives out there in his volkswagon camper van.....how he gets it there ill never know,he says he goes there to get away from it all and his misses for a few days..he only lived at port hughes lol he also gets the occasional good flathead...and monster yellowfin whiting he had some thumpers in his bucket.its such a fishy spot and the kids have ball on the reefs at low tidebut its a toss up whether i persist with fishing for snapper at the cape or head off to port riley as it seesm theres quite a bit of good news of good fish taken there?

  10. Great,Cheers for the reply ive fished there a few times, some great gar and snook and top squid too, even had blueys chase my toes a few times, always wondered though what would be the chances of a snapper, the reefs right at cape liz look like prime territory, just have to put up with the wind. guess i wont be taking the fly gear hahahaS

  11. Morning all sleepy eyed site viewers some with hangovers as to yesterdays results . :S I am hoping to glean some advice on fishing land based on the reefs around Cape Elizabeth this time of year I am heading to yorkes tonight as my trip to PA for kingies was cancelled. :( Would like to know if theres any chance of snapper ? a morning or evening sessions would pep up my spirits somewhat. Will also drop a line in at Moonta jetty or Pt Hughes for some squid Any advice would be greatly appreciatedCheers Sean

  12. Totally agree its brutal what the dollar can do......makes one wonder what will be for our children, but one has too stay positive and that the message and movement, and tasks even from small identities such as this brilliant site, can make small steps in the right direction, information to the population is paramount and discussion can glean interesting directions and messages of which taken up by the right people can and do "take the message" to those souls that ,will listen and act acordingly.Tight lines to all and may i say a lesson learnt from projoe many years ago on catch and release, has left me in good stead, even for my own conscience. And its these lessons learnt, insignificant they may well be that must be passed on to the next generation, alas even that fact of whats been done is so daunting, its what can be done for the future for them", that is a focus for us all.small steps they may be, whatever you and I have learnt but i think they are lifechanging and important.us fishos are a community with a passion like no other...theres something new that keeps the spark burning every time one has a chance to pursue our addiction, these bring the memories we have had and bring stories to be recounted throughout life to whomever may listen HAHAHAH. our kids mostly lol, but the smiles are worth the rainy fishless sessions and experinces bring knowledge and from thses experiences lessons are learnt. And they are worth the patience sometomes required for our kids to be taught them in this "superfast vitual world"Wow kinda got carried away there.thanx for listening Tight lines and keep yer arses out of the waterSean

  13. David, The tracks to gain access to the beach are a bit of fun most have wet spots hahaha.I wouldnt get onto the beaches at 28 or 32, as you would have to have full trust in ya skills and vehicle, but tracks behind the small dunes at the foreshore at 32 are easy and access a great area to run amongst the sand. Both entries to the beach either at 28 or 32 are real soft so tyres down to 12 and lass and Hi Ho silver away....hahahaSandy,Relaxing ya say hey..perhaps ya might like to swap kids for a trip my boys wear me out hahahahaha, nah ya right its a hoot an will foster memories they will never forget B)

  14. hI sANDY, MY OTHER SON SAM, aaaah i see im suffering from your affliction, :S  anyway lil sam, just loves to squid, we frequent wallaroo quite often, any squid he gets he gaurds almost too the point of taking them too bed .But ya got too love theyre enthusiasm..sure most times the attention span falls away but its the smiling eyes and faces that make all the planning worthwhileSean B)

  15. Gday rocknev,3 girls ..struth...ive twin 7 yr boys and my Kelsey is now 9 going on 21, music, texting and attitude.....hope yours fly through that age with not too much drama.....not likely hahaha, she used to love fishing.....oncewon a fishing contest when she was young cuaght a good trout out one of the Saafwa dams, i was a member then just ask projoe, she was stoked and still guards that rod and reel from her brothers , but its not so much too fish with its just out of spite hahahaha.the boys I am positive will figure out a plot to snatch.haha just stay tuned it wont take longCheersS

  16. Hi David,Until the water recede and access can be gained via tea tree crossing, mate dont overlook other access tracks like 28 and 32, appaerently the salmon are pretty scattered this season so you might get them anywhere, altho reports say there are more up towards tea tree area and beyond, sure the hole and gutters are a bit more defined and fishy around 42 mile, but good fishing can be had from any of these beaches, good jew and sharks even the odd snapper at the right time can be taken.I got a 15 pound snapper last season and a schoolie around 30 pound, sure it was near 42 but these show up anywhere.......tight lines.Sean

  17. Hi Joe, yup the boys are growing fast lucas and i had a ball next trip will be with lucas sam and kelsey, and mate all that karma is going to catch up with me hahahaha.kelseys gone off the fishing a bit but the boys are as keen as ever theyve already claimed most of my gear lucas is even trying to pinch a fly rod from me.i need another job to pay for the gear they want hahahahacheers for the comments everyone, tight lines and keep ye arses out of the waterSean

  18. Hi David, 42 mile isnt closed, BUT there is only about 4 kms of beach to access, unless you break all the rules and bash ur own track past the rangers sign, there is some issue, slightly political as far as I can gather that they wont put in a few star droppers to allow a new track for further access to the area? so the traffic that visits the beach will be chockas and the track will get thrashed most people wont go back untiil tea tree opens cheers for the commentsSean
