Load of crap.... Don't listen to the tackle snobs
Fisherman are tradies and we like to use the best we can get that will stand the test of time, a tradie on a work site wont be caught with a shit no namer brand why because it will usually pack in during a job, Yes at times these brands will be purchased on a get me out of trouble basis but you go to any work site and you will see name brands because they are bulit to perform the tasks and take the knocks and punishment. No black and decker here or super cheap auto $15 specials.. give me Hilti, Hitachi, Dewalt, Milwaukee etc, Shimano, Daiwa, Berkley, G loomis.Get what i'm saying?
Would have to be one of the best ways to put it wevs.

Alternatively thinking a saltiga 3500 game or saltiga Z4500... to match a hiramasa 63S.....

Cant really compare the 2 together 1 is much better than the other and a fair few more clams too.The new shimano D series are nice very tough reels more crisp than than old series and few more kgs of drag to.The saltiga are second to none in my opinion, the 4500z being a lil better having a sealed body plus having a few extra kgs of drag and double the line capacity, but like I said your looking at a fw more clams compared to the shimano baitrunner. The hiramasa's are sick rods love em but again not cheap that rod will cost you more than the shimano reel.Just a few things to think about, good luck with your choiceDubs
  5. I dont think that what there getting at snappahunta, I work in a tackle store and have seen the best and the worst. You half right in the sence that just because something is cheap doesnt mean its useless but the general I go by is yoou get what you pay for, dont expect it to you last you a life time because you'll be sadly dissapointed.Personally I havent heard of em so couldnt tell ya if there good or badAll I can say is you work to your budget and be happy with it, it doesnt matter what any1 else thinks of it if your happy fishing with it who cares.

  6. Hey mate,Have no photos but I can tell you they work, have used them myself and other brands of the octo jig and plastics and the snaps love em.Also great on the nannies ans swallow tail down the bottom of yorkes but the couta can be a pain.Lucanus are the most known there are others river2sea do a good 1 and power jig do another not bad jig

can always use SMALL pieces of chicken.. late night woolies run?

I wouldnt get caught using chicken anything that doesnt come from the water is not allowed to be used in the water, ie chicken carcasas and red meat in crab nets.Sorry to ruin your plan just letting you know
  8. Hey mate Dont mind chasing a few reds my self, I would match my line to your reel and rod depending on age of the reel most peen over heads will give you somewhere around 5kg so 50lb will be a bit of a waste of time and matching your line to your rods rating would be a good idea to.If your rod is 10kgs then fish up to 10kg line, they used to say fish your drag at a 3rd of its breaking strain.I now fish with my whiting gear and landing fish over 7kgs, started on the 6lb but its a bit tough so jumped 2 8lb on a 2500 exceller plus and a custom built stick.Like a few others have said fish to what your comfortable fishing.Tight lines

  9. The saltist are a great reel, and at a fair price too would take that over the finor any day of the week.30kgs of drag is a serious amount not many people could stand up and hold onto a rod at that pressure, so you gota look at it seriously. In saying that you dont what to buy a reel and fish it to its max drag and capabilties anyway as you wouldnt go and buy a car and drive it as fast as it can go.Happy hunting bds
