as for me, alvey all the way....im fishing rocks, and ive seen a brand new name brand spinner explode after just 2 casts....wont find me using anything but an alvey for the bigger fish from the rocks...if i want to catch tommies or whiting, etc etc, i will use the spinners...and hell yeah im biassed...had my alveys for 25 yrs, and will still be going in another 25 yrs.fancy taking one of the supposed name brands onto a beach, and shock horror dropping it...pffffffft.... if i drop the alvey in the sand, i will rinse it off in the salt water and carry on fishing... try that with a supposed name brand bling bling reel and see how much it works after a days fishing without a full tear down and clean...each to there own, but im sticking to what i say is the best for what i do...ALVEY, 651DEEP SPOOL, HOLDING 1000MTRS OF 25LB LINE.

the meer mention of the word snyderglas makes me go all gooey hahahaha...LOVE my snyders.... i have 3 of them... tuff is an understatement....

i fish a lot, and object to paying a fee to do so, as it cost me enough to bloody fish as it is...bait, hooks, tackle, fuel to get there, food ,drinks, thousands of sinkers, line, clothing and god knows what else.if i take each of my 3 daughters fishing, am i up for another fee, even though it may be only once or twice a year?how about if i get visitors from out of state/country...? do they pay a fee for a once of trip?FISHING IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN.... taxing fun is bullshite.....thats 2.2 cents worth (gst included)

gday mate.... i made mine from a bbq spit motor...around 40 bucks or so from a hardware shop.slow turning for drying which is good imho.. a couple of steel brackets to mount it, and some rollers made from bakelite.ive seen small wheels from a hardware shop used, and even seen 2 cd's mounted up as rollers, which worked pretty well also.

i can still remmeber when i took my eldest daughter for her first fish, on the local beach... i cast her in, and gave her the rod..." dad, i got a bite" and starts winding in, she said it was too slow, so turned and ran up the beach, then back down again, knotting the line in the seaweed,oh dear... HOLY HELL, she had caught a fish.... a 38cm kg whiting.....we took it home, and out came the camera, then she ate the whiting for tea...she was 5.
