  1. buy an alvey...rinse it and forget it....seriously though... my egg beater, and adu7000 after a fish cop a soak in HOT water., with a bit of car wash added, then its rinsed off, and left to dry in the sun....seems to desolve the salt better.the rods get a regular wax with turtle wax, and it keeps them in pretty good condition and a lot cleaner.my only trouble with the spinners and overhead, is they dont get a great deal of use, where the alvey gets used 2-5 times a week.i really should oil the alvey more often, but there is no need to.it dont have bearings of rubbish like that.its been going for over 20 yrs, so i must be doing something right with it

hahahaha... yeah i guess your right.ive been to every state cept nt and wa, but if im heading dow to adelaide way, thats normally where i stop.mostly fish whyalla and lincoln way.I guess if most of your fishing is done around Whyalla and Lincoln, there's no need to go anywhere else.you got that right. i got a good mate in perth, he is down from the bottom end of york peninsula, and really misses the fishing.you cant just go to a jetty or the rocks and catch fish like we do.if he wants to catch anything decent, he needs to book a charter...

  4. ive only used this method on my abu 7000 and ugly stick... with the alvey ive used it enough to sort of get a feel for where it should be.... when its in the rocks holder, its backed right off so the fish can run, after i strike, i tighten the drag by instinct.....

  5. damn....sounds like your all a bunch of pissheads....hehehe... I DONT DRINK..not really anyway.... last year i had 2 beers, and ive averaged no more than 3 a year for the last 15 yrs... used to like it, but after a bucks night when i got smashed on tequilla,AND drove the porcelan bus the reat of the night, ive never been drunk since.that was 18 yrs ago... i once bought a carton of beer for christmas drinks, 12 mths later i still had 18 cans left, so that got tipped out... ' i used to like brandy and coke,,,, but ive even gone off that as well...

  6. when i fish the shore, i have a piece of dowel...well i DID have a peice of dowel, until i snapped it.so now i have a piece of 12mm plastic cinduit... its 60cm ling, the legal length of a large snapper, with some elect tape at the 38cm mark for small snapper...i use different colour tapes, for whiting, salmon, etc etc...i normally leave it in the bucket, but i have tied a bit of string around it once when i was wading the shallows of the beach for silvers... easy to use, lay it along the fish, and throw the fish back if U/S.

I made mine from PVC tube cut in half.Top one is mainly for gar, bottom goes out the hole till top of mouth hits the stop.Bottom one is for bigger stuf like salmon.Once they are in the pvc tube they seem to settle down a bit and are easier to measure.markings on big one are 21 cm, 23 cm, 24 cm and to the string is 30 cmFor KG's I have another one providing I ever catch any. size=1024http://www.strikehook.com/images/attachments/Ybivhn43__measure.jpg[/img]

we use a similar thing in the boat, cept its a full tube, with just a scollop out of the end... slide the whiting in until it hits the cap on the bottom, and if his tail is hanging over the edge, hes legal.

one to match up to a 6'6 15kg rod running 20lb braid to be used from a kayak.. im not real flash with overheads.. prefer egg beaters..

i tried my bro's bait runner reel...shimano i think... i liked the idea of free spool, then turn the handle for hook up...
  9. i tried braid only once... from the rocks...FORGET IT... rubbish...it doesnt like sharp rocks thats for sure....threw the lot in the bin.but this thread has me thinking...HOW IMPORTANT IS COLOUR? i tried a red mono, and didnt get any snapper bites, until i took it off and also threw it in the bin.yellow didnt seem to work either... i will stick with green or blue.....my bro was getting fish while i got zip both times with the coloured line.shallow water from the rocks.

  10. hell you want doggies come to whyalla in sept,,,thats when the cuttlies leave, and the doggies take their place for breeding...if you cant get a dozen in a night there is something wrong.i chcuk em in a rock pool so they can swim out when the tide comes in
