  1. i cant speak highly enough of A.S. HORNE WADERS.... i bought a set of there cheaper brands, that lasted a total of 8 days, before a large hole devoloped in the butt....through the tackle shop i bought them from they were returned, and I upgraded at a small cost to REAL horne waders....only to have the boot let go 3 weeks later, it split on the seam....back to hornes again, and new boots fitted at no cost...these lasted 6mths, and split again in the same spot....returned again and new boots of a different design fitted....tried them on an all night fishing trip last night and they dry.HORNE DO NOT MAKE THE BOOTS, they are sourced from outside.......ITS NICE IN THIS DAY AN AGE TO ACTUALLY FIND A COMPANY THAT STANDS BY THEIR PRODUCT AS MUCH AS A.S. HORNE DO.....very refreshing to find.

  2. howdy,on a few previous occasions i have been drifting with sea anchor tied off the front and had these guys rush up and anchor next to us,thinking we were anchored.cracks me up as we drift off laughing. :icon_lol:cheers adamibinfishin

i too have sticthed a few up sort of like that.... there will be boats everywhere on the ocean, but someone will park on top of you ....we pull the pick, but leave the rope in....and slowly moves
  3. happened to me last night on whyalla jetty...i was fishing squid, and actually had some asians(20 or so on jetty last ight) offering to BUY them off of me, a polite NO didnt seem to discourage them either...everytime i landed one they were back asking again....eventually they got the hint and left me alone, but the ammount of very small undersize crabs that were taken by them was criminal..... i also pointed out the legal size, and let it be known there was a measuring station at the start of the jetty just seemed to draw a blank stare and some asian words, which were lost on me, YET i heard them talking in broken english not that long before.....and they took EVERYTHING they hooked....there was even a massive eagle ray doing the rounds of the crab nets that they tried to catch on a handline...good luck, it was about 7ft across the wings.another thing that bothered me? there was 2 little kids, running around all over the place, no shoes on and not fussed....they wanted me to give them a squid, which i may have done if i had a few, aged 3 and 5... ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT WAS THEM FALLING IN THE WATER AS HAPPENED LAST WEEK IN TRAGIC EVENTS TO 2 YOUNG KIDS AND THEIR FATHER....i have 3 daughters, aged 13, 7 and 5....the 5 and 7yr old i will NOT take on the jetty fishing, thats MY rule.... in the heat of the moment of pulling in a fish/squid/crab it would be all too easy for a bored kid to lean out a bit too far and they would be in.as is the norm with just about any jetty, you will find hooks etc on the flooring, not to mention the fact of fishing rods worth money, and associated tackle...just waiting to find some toes, or to be snapped, knocked over or otherwise damaged...have also seen more than one rod go over the railing.

  4. hey rocknev awsome pics old mate pro fisherman has been seein some good ones aye havent spoke to him in a while mate...... was out last nite and hooked a good snapper, fish was pritty docile doin the normal snapper thing then all of sudden just exploded and afetr a short run gotcha all went slack :icon_e_biggrin: decided to move drop after that :icon_lol:

gday wes...showed your mum and dad the pics on my phone the other day... hit the rocks last night, didnt need the waders... funniest thing ive seen happened last night....i was waiting for a run, and some clowns in a 10ft tinny were dabbing, so i lay down on the rocks, until they got close.... they were 10 ft from shore, and 40 ft to my left.... i turned on my torch..... they shit themselves... :icon_lol:then i got hit by the spotlight...hahahaha.... they were getting scoop after scoop of gars.... we all had a laugh, then they motored off...landed a dogshark and had a large stingray run, 2nd in 2 days....pulled the plug at 2am....
  5. well since i didnt see a little c with a ring around it in the corner,i assume its not copywritten....IF I KNEW WHO TOOK THE PICTURES I WOULD GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE....when i owned my corvette, i found a fair ammount of photos on the net....doesnt bother me one bit...in fact i took is as a compliment. thats fine....next time i get some interesting photos i wont bother.....wont be me that misses out..... consider the photos removed from this site.....

  6. recieved a pic yesterday on my phone....from a pro fisherman fishing the leeton tug off whyalla....it made off with 11 snapper from his hooks, before surfacing for an eyeball...estimated around the 15-17ft mark.and agressive female... then left the area....no doubt it will hang around as long as there is food around....ive yet to see one.( but did see something on the surface 100mtres from the rocks eating a stingray). but my bro managed to hook a whitey about 7 mths ago on the same spot...well he didnt actually hook the white, there was a snapper in its belly with my bro's hooks inside of the snapper, it got angry, hit the back of the boat and spooled his abu7000... by the time he managed to get the drag locked up while looking for a knife to cut the line, the line broke company.... he had less than half the line left on the reel.have seen the short video of the run on phone....damn quick.

What are these 'rocks' you refer to? Outer Harbour?
black point whyalla.... cant say for sure if it was a white, but something was making mincemeat out that stingray..... took a pic on my phone cam but just too far away to make it out clearly.....but they are around... without a doubt.... ive seen pics of a baby dolphin bit in half on the other side around near the kingfish pens....and in the 70's a bloke was bitten by a shark near the lighthouse...his brother saved him.....and you get these numbskulls that dive the area to look at the cuttlefish? shark bait waiting to happen.......

  8. not a bad idea at all...just ur basic spud cannon which i think is covered with just the class A&B gun licence which isnt hard to get at all(i got mine about a year ago) solong as you have no police record just go to ur local cop shop and ask them.

yeah tried that.... this thing IS VERY capable of destroying everything it hits..... so got told in a very stern voice to get rid of it or else.....hence it went under a 300 tonne press at work......
  9. here is what it used to look like......all stainless steel.thick walled pipe with the tank fitted with a gauge, standard car fitting, and stainless valve.....Posted ImagePosted Image the special sinker we got made up...made a mould and got the raw sinker machined down.it has a piece of wire in the backside of it....attached a swivel with 50lb line to the wire, then inseted the sinker pointy end first into the barrell.....when fired it comes out, turns and takes line with it....anything less than 50lb sinker trace just snapped...Posted ImagePosted Image

  10. good idea.....ive got some pics of the one we made up,and will post them up when i find them......careful with the police though....i was told IT IS A FIREARM AND SUCH A LICENSE IS NEEDED, and getting a license for it is harder than finding a unicorn......

  11. thats a good idea....do you have trouble keepig the bait on the hooks when its launched? that was my main issue....no matter what i put on hooks, when this thing went off it would pull the hooks from the bait at as low as 50psi....and its been tested at 150psi,but we couldnt get the pressure in there with a foot pump.how far does yours launch?

  12. yeah it worked out a treat.....r sure not the neatest job ive seen, but it works and thats the main thing....borrowed a rotater to turn rod slowely for about 12 hrs in this cold weather to allow sealer to fully dry....'have tried it out a few times and all looks good....

  13. and DONT do what the victorians seem to enjoy doing during the snapper fishing conpetition.....IF A HEAP OF BOATS ANCHORED.....PLEASE DONT RACE THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THEM AT FULL SPEED......has happened plenty of times.....bloody vic'si can see one day they will pick the wrong person to do that to and it will get settled back at the ramp......
